Question about RCA RP5420 Clock Radio

1 Answer

Lack of support

I have been in touch with your customer service via e-mail. I recently purchased a clock radio and have had to return it twice, and am getting ready to return a third one. the attitude from the e-mails is "oh well, if you aren't happy and don' t want to send it to us just return it" - i have had to return the same radio 3 times, a 45 mile trip each time. the lack of interest is amazing. obviously there is a problem with this clock radio (RP5420). one would think your company would be intersted in this, i do not plan to buy another rca product.

I have solved this problem by deciding to never buy an RCA product again. The attitude of customer service is horrible, and if you think I will pay you to give me a solution to a problem that is clearly one of shotty workmanship, you can think again. One defective clock I can understand, 3 is outrageous and being asked to pay for an answer is insulting. No wonder so many businesses are going under these days.

You must try to reset the microprocessor in the Clock/Radio. To do this you must unplug the Clock/Radio from the A/C power source. Then remove the Internal battery(CR2430). Let the Clock/Radio set without a power source for about 3 hours. This will discharge the microprocessor and reset it. After you have discharged the microprocessor, you can reinstall the internal battery. Connect the Clock/Radio to the A/C power source. The Clock/Radio's Functions should have returned to normal function. If the Clock/Radio did not return to normal function, you must replace the internal battery and again let the microprocessor discharge. After the microprocessor has discharged, put in the new internal battery and reconnect the Clock/Radio to the A/C power source. The Clock/Radio should have returned to normal function. If you are still having problem with the functions of the Clock/Radio, You will have to call Emerson Customer Support. The telephone number for the Emerson customer support is 1-800-909-1240. you can call them between the hours of 8am-4:30pm CT. It's because it charges via FireWire and your iPod charges via USB. This 12V vs. 5V. I've encountered this twice recently myself. Scosche makes an adapter that's sold through the Apple Store.
