Question about Epson Stylus Photo 780 InkJet Printer
My Printer will not print!! The service light is flashing, but we have put in a new ink cartridge, tried reinstalling the driver, tried cleaning it, but nothing seems to work. My computer says the document is printing, but the printer doesn't do anything! The paper doesn't even feed through. We really need to use the printer, so all help is very much appreciated!!
Check this link for the manual, updated drivers etc. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=14393&infoType=Downloads Download the latest driver version and install it if you reinstalled from a cd before. click documents and manuals and the third item down (product information guide) has troubleshooting instructions which may shed some light on the problem. On this printer the cartridges affect the operation more than on most inkjet printers, so I would always suspect the cartridge or the connections to the printer. take the cartridge out and gently clean the contacts on the printer with a soft dry piece of cloth (lint free) and try again. even a new cartridge is suspect, because there are several ways they can be damaged during installation - check the troubleshooter - it shows the cartridge changing procedure very clearly and you can see if you think there could be anything wrong. If none of this helps, then try unplugging the printer and leaving it for ten minutes then try again. Press the power button twice after it is on, this clears the printer memory, which may help. Disconnect your printer from the pc and then; make sure the printer has paper. hold down the maintenance button then turn on with the power button, release the power button first and then wait to release the maintenance button until a test page prints, which can be quite a while - not more than a minute for sure though. See if this works, if not, and the cartridge isn't the problem then I think the best thing is to contact an epson dealer. My money is on the cartridges being the problem. Last long shot to try - just gently try and push/pull the carriage a little way, it may be somehow stuck and a little movement may free it. dont be too hard though as you can cause other damage if you are not gentle. Hope this helps, if not try Epson, they are usually very helpful. Good luck :)
