Question about Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 Flatbed Scanner

CanoScan LiDE Error Code : 2,178,0: I'm using a Toshiba tecra A6 laptop with the NTFS file system on the hard drive. The msg appears and ask me to release the lock, but its already unlocked. So I tried VueScan software which has built in drivers; it worked fine and it confirmed that there is something wrong with the canon original drivers and settings. I've tried to change the enviornment variables, as I tried by typing ;C:\WINNT\twain_32\CNQL20 and C:\WINDOWS\twain_32\CNQL20 in the Path. But it didn't work. I've Updated my windows xp and all the other softwares and drivers. I've re-installed the new drivers from the canon websites. As I live in karachi, Pakistan so there wasn't any website for Pakistan so I tried the singapore website, usa canon and canon uk. Didn't work. Please give me some advise as soon as possible. reply awaited. thankx!

Go to advanced tab in driver. Select calibration settings and execute

ok, the good news, the bad news, and the ugly.
Good news: buy a replacement hard drive and you should be good to go. Bad news: data recovery on a failed drive is a crapshoot at best- there are ways to try and recover, but they are stopgap (and cheap) or mostly reliable (and freaking EXPENSIVE)
Ugly: buy an external cage to install the hard drive, use a boot cd of Linux ( I've had better luck pulling files from NTFS drives using Linux than another install of Windows. Go figure....) and put the hard drive in a freezer bag- **** ALL AIR OUT OF THE BAG!. Put drive in freezer for 48 hours.
Pray. Pray hard. Pray harder still. Put drive in external cage, attach to linux system. Pull as much info as you can. Hopefully you can snag your important files- but that error is a pretty gnarly drive error.

Hi,

Sounds like software problem. Error on extracting the file from the recovery cd to the hard drive. But to make sure, run a diagnostic test for the hard drive if the recovery cd includes that option, if not, try another recovery cd.

Unplug and open laptop and remove BIOS battery and leave unplugged and this will reset BIOS.

Toshiba tecra problem: disk i/o error:status = 00000400 ntdetect failed


This indicates you may be experiencing a pretty severe hard drive failure. I would recommend replacing your hard drive ASAP, and in the meantime, use your Windows OS disk to repair the windows installation to access your system again. No worries, done properly this process does not erase your files, only your system files that Windows uses to function.

A window appears saying "unable to scan. Be sure there is enough space in the destination disk."


Your hard drive may be getting full...
Or the account (user name) you are using on the computer does not have enough "rights" to create the output file.
Assuming it is Drive C:

Open [My Computer]
Right-click Drive C: (one time)
and select "Properties"
In the [General] tab, locate and click on [Disk Cleanup]
The system will harmlessly "scan" your hard drive to try to free up space. It is not deleting or compressing anything.
When the scan is complete, a list will appear, place a check on:
Tempoary files, Temporary Internet Files,
(do not "compress" any files)
and click [OK]
Try your scan again.

This is a temporary fix. You need more hard disk space.

How Can I install drivers of my toshiba tecra


Copy and past the website I gave into the address bar on the top of the computer you are using right now. Download the drivers and save them onto a disk.Instal the drivers using the disk in the laptop. If you need the reinstall cd get it from this website also. You said you only need drives , not the windows also.

I'm not clear on your description, so here goes:

If it showed the Toshiba start screen, then asked for a password, then your hard drive is password protected.

If it showed the Toshiba screen, then asked for password, and you entered it, and then it goes "insert disk", then your hard drive is passworded and wiped.

If the first thing it does is ask for a password, then the password is in the BIOS.

Toshiba tecra 9000 wont start


Blue screens are generally operating system failure. You will need to reinstall your XP home. Format the drive NTFS, instead of FAT32. If you have any problems during or after the reload, then the hard drive is the failure and will need replaced.
