Look for the seam that appears to divide the camea in half, possilby where it will open. Go around that area looking for a latch or button or sliding release. Do Not Force anything, but try to move any part that sticks out toward the sides and see if this will trigger the latch to open it.
If this does not help, you will have to resubmit this question with more infomation on the exact make and model. Good Luck!

I can not open the back of the camera to load new film and battary

The battery gets loaded at the bottem of the camera, and if you use the rewind now which i believe is on the left hand side on the top, if you pull that up it will release the chamber of the back, but make sure you press the button on the bottom in and rewind the film before opening the back, otheriwise your film strip is useless. cause its exposed. :) good luck

How to open a Vivitar 845 camera?

On the back of the camera, there are two sliders. The left hand one is the battery cover, and the other is the film back release.camera03a.jpg
Film advance is automatic when batteries are in it.

If this picture doesn't come out clearly, look at the ebay listing I copied it from ....

Film Advance Lever and Shutter Curtain

If the film advance lever is "flopping" back and forth, the problem is most likely a jammed advance mechanism inside. The shutter is cocked *mechanically* and released the same way--no battery power is needed. One old trick you could try to release things is to push the rewind button on the bottom of the camera.*sometimes* it will free up the mechanism enough to unjam.

Film Rewind Button Problem!

mistermanage,

turn the advance lever to charge the shutter.or open the film door and rotate the drive sprocket to the right, this will release the button. if the button didn't pop up then the bottom cover will have to be removed in order to release it manually.

Film = no light meter

jackson rook,

the speed of the film may be to high if your camera has dx coding contacts in the film chamber. otherwise---- film in camera or not it has no effect on meter operation. move the advance lever to the right slightly and push down on the shutter release button slightly to turn meter on.
