Question about Compaq Presario 5000 PC Desktop
My DVD and CD drives are not working. The DVD drive's green "busy" light is constantly on. The CD drive will only open manually and will not read CDs. During start up I've noticed a quick message that says something about drive being updated. Any ideas on how to get these working properly again? Thanks!
Drive may need a firmware update. If you have internet access then go to drive's manufacturer, and check for an update. There could also be a drive configuration problem, need to see if drives are recognized, by the system. You can right click my computer select explore and look for drives or go to settings, control panel right click system, open, then hardware, device manager. Then look for cd and dvd drives. If you see yellow exclamation marks or question marks then updates drivers. This is a start, try to see if the drives recognized.
