Your card reader probably cant read HC cards. Any of the newer cards 4GB and above is considered HC: High Capacity and only the newer card readers can read that. Same thing goes with older cameras. 2GB would be the max for older cameras that dont support HC and card readers that dont support it.

Ensure the 4GB card is functioning and readable in another device. If the 4GB card is known to be good, check for a driver or firmware update for your PC and/or the card reading device.

My PC won't recognize my SD cards

Just to be sure, it's an SD card (2GB or smaller) and not an SDHC card (4GB or larger)? If it's an SDHC card, is your card reader compatible with SDHC cards, or only with SD cards?

I got an Aluratek air ebook reader,I have a bunch of 4 & 8gb SDHC cards, does not recognize any of them, the only card reads is a 2gb SD, though claims it can take up to 32 gb SD cards,I checked with a...

Checked on there web site says they can handle 32 GB cards. But you said something interesting you said you have SDHC cards, which are NOT the same as hd cards. So while a device may take one cared they will not take another card.

Not sure what the difference is but different they are. Try a larger SD card if you can find one, probably find the SD format will work fine but SDHC not at all.

Hope this helps

Hp a720n put a sd card in and it doesnt read it or if u click my computer it doesnt show up need a driver or something to fix it where can i find it i went to hp website but could find a driver

I had the same problem. Turns out that the SD Card reader will only recognize cards with a capacity of 2GB or less. It won't read my 4GB or 16GB cards, but will read my 2GB and 8MB(!) cards.

Centros Secure Digital Card Reader Model No.4418951 will not read a SanDisk SDHC Card 4GB.

1. Safely remove the Card and Card Reader from your system.

2. Plug in the Card Reader to the system.

3. Now, insert the Card in the reader.

4. Let the system take some time to detect the devices.

* If the Card Reader donot read the card, try another card to check if there is problem with the reader or card!

* If the Card Reader still donot detect, check it with another system.

tell me if it works...tc! :)

I have a 4gb sandisk micro sdhc with adapter and the computer freezes when i have it in the sd drive.I have a hp pavilion a1 a1203w. Is there anything i can do?? Please Help

I had a similar problem not long ago. The SD and SDHC standards are different. SD only goes up to 2GB, and SDHC (high capacity) goes higher than 2GB. THe problem is that SD card readers aren't capable of reading SDHC cards, even though the card will physically fit into the card reader slot. When you insert an SDHC card into an SD card reader, the reader attempts to read the format, and locks up the OS while trying. You'll need to get an SDHC card reader and use it separately like through a USB port or something.
