I checked the entire manual from this camera, and what i found out is that it does not have a way to Reset to factory settings, it does not have a way to control the Brightness, basically you can only use it to take pictures with flash or without flash and record video , you can also manage the quality of the picture by changing the size of Megapixels, but that would not help. Also found out that this camera uses 2 AA batteries , and that by taking the batteries out would not help either .

My review:

  • No way to manage brigthness, therefore no way to fix camera internally and manually.
  • Only 5Mpixels, not really worthed paying anyone to mechanically fix it, might be too old too
  • Only way to fix pictures taken, using a program from your computer to change the brightness settings, then print it.
Hope this review helps you.

That is the way with this camera. You could use a program like Photoshop and lighten the pictures up a little by hand. How bright of conditions do you usually take a picture in (indoor lighting?, bright sun?) Try a brighter area and see if that helps since there isn't an adjustment on the camera.

Try resetting the camera to factory settings from camera settings menu, also remove the battery to hard reset the camera.

If that does not work there is an internal fault.

If the problem is only on printing, you definitively need a program like Photoshop, as already stated, in order to fix the problem.
Photoshop is quite expensive, if you do not need the software as a professional tool you can use one of the following :10 Free Web-based Alternatives to Photoshop.

Correct the picture brightness, or try using color/ light auto settings using one of the software from the website above, download and install a couple of them and keep the best one after doing a test print.

Replace the ink-cartridges, to see if that fixes the problem.
Check the printer setup to see if it is in "draft" mode or "normal" mode.

I've just had this same problem with my Sephy 740. Nothing helped until I disassembled the printer and realizing the small gear wheel (not visualized) at position in the red circle had loosened. Remounting the gear wheel on the shaft with a tiny drop of Blue Loctite and letting dry three hours, reassembling the printer and turning it on fixed the problem.

No display on the printer screen when i insert

Check the specifications for the printer. It may not be able to accept the SDHC cards which speak a slightly different language than SD cards and most older devices will not acccept them. Any sd or 1gb or small card will work fine.

Question Mark Appearing on Canon Selphy printer screen

I encountered this issue with a Selphy CP800 and I presume the reason is the same; it seems to be a common problem. Canon tech support says that Selphy printers need exif data "just so" in order to generate screen previews. If all you do is copy your image to a flash memory device from your camera card, you may well be OK. But if you edit the images (e.g. in Photoshop) you will very likely alter the exif data so that Selphy cannot generate previews from flash media plugged into Selphy. If you are copying images back to a **camera** SD card you may also have to make sure that you don't alter the file structure already present on the card. There are undoubtedly other ways to louse up the exif data of an image so that you can't get a screen preview. Workarounds: 1) official Canon advice is to print the image directly from your computer - that's what tech support told me; 2) if you own Canon's Digital Photo Professional Software you can rebuild the exif data by using File>Convert and save>kind of file = exif-jpeg - this worked for me; 3) Graphic Converter for Mac now has a way of rebuilding exif data according to a poster on the Apple discussion boards; I could not test this out b/c my (old) version of Graphic Converter, 5.4, does not have this capability; 4) if you get a screen question mark, the image will still print - you just can't see the preview. This is only a problem if there's more than one image that generates a question mark on your flash media device because you can't see what image you're printing. So if all else fails and you have to print from flash media, you can put a single image with screwy exif data on a flash drive and be confident that you know what you're printing.

Color ink cassette stuck in canon selphy

I doubt very much that you need to reset the printer, or, even if you did, that this would make much difference. It sounds as if there is a menu item which you should be able to bring up on the display which then allows you to release and extract the cartridge. I have scoured the web for information on this one and Canon, naturally, only supply the software, not the manual. If you have a manual can you look up and quote the relevant bit in it which deals with changing the cartridge? If there is nothing there which says that you have to go to a menu item to release it then it sounds like a mechanical problem - as in 'needs a bit of a yank'. I'll keep looking.
