Question about Graphics Cards

K9mm-v via k8m800 + vt8237r / amd athlon / running ubuntu 7.10 video problems

Hello, I will try and provide some relevant descriptions of the problem.
1. using onboard video, machine just "lost" or had no visual output on the monitor.
2. switched monitors, same result. put monitors on different box, worked fine
3. put a new (e-gforce 6200) graphics card in agp slot. initially worked!
4. after a few days when bios passed control to OS, i got 5 cursors and seemingly 5 screens, nothing ledgible.
5. took new card out. hooked back up to onboard video
6, no change , get the several distorted screens.
7. went into bios and only change i initiated was to load optomized default settings.

any ideas?

Mike

If the system works properly in "Safe Mode" the problem is with your drivers. Try and update the drivers by downloading them from the manufacturers website. Although, having looked at the spec, it could just be that you are not using the supplied monitor adaptors to run your display. Try it that way and see. Good luck.

ATi X2300/ AMD 690/ Win XP driver problem

Have you tried letting Windows do it for you? In the system option in the control panel, in the hardware tab, click device manager, then on display adapters right-click and select "Scan for hardware changes." Your card should certainly be recognized.

Cost of game hardware in india

2GB RAM should be about $100, the same for installation. Your current graphics card meets the specs you provided. An upgraded video card will be about $200 for one that will work, $300 for one that will work well.

Screen going blank for a second or two while video freezes then jumps.

If you have on board graphics try removing video card and reboot when computer rebooted turn it of and refit card and restart when restarted computer should recognize new hard ware and should find the already installed drivers if not try installing drivers again
Sometimes windows does not recognize new hardware until its refitted
had this problem with modems alot and the above method solved it

Well, the easiest solution would be to format your computer and reinstall your OS. Though I do not think that there is something wrong with your CPU. Can you describe the problem more precisely? For example step by step, what you do first and last.
