Hello I have an Amcor dehumidifier (at least 7 years old). It seems to be really struggling and is a lot less effective than it used to be. I don't have any means for cleaning it because the...

Sean, There are 5 basic, but solvable reason for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2..

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%. If you have an analog unit,
turn the humidity extraction knob to Maximum.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. As the unit is 8 years old and may to have have routine maintenance performed on it, on a regular basis.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Unit does not start, shows E2 error, can you help on what that code means and resolution

I have searched and searched and have not been able to find an Owner's Manual for your model Amcor Dehumidifier. I did discover that Haier and Fredrich both have similar models, So similar, I suspect Haier manufactured them. But, neither the Haier nor the Fredich's unit have any information concerning Error Code 2. Plus, the ratings for your Amcor model were not very good. Seems that Amcor is riddled with problems.

In any event, lets try to solve your problem. First, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF. Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and remove the water collection bucket and the air intake filter. Check the filter closely for significant dust and dirt buildup and clean it if necessary. Make sure the filter is thoroughly dry, before placing it in the unit. Leave the unit unplugged for at least 15 minutes or until the filter is dry. Then replace the filter, insert the bucket - making sure that it fits swaourely from top to bottom into the bucket holder. Plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Hopefully, the 15 minute timeout has allowed the unit's electronics to reset themselves and they reverted back to the original factory settings. If so, set the controls to your liking and the unit should start and run like it should.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

I acquired used Amcor AHD65 Dehumidifier a couple days ago. I was told that it is just beyond the warranty period. I assume that it is a barely a year old. However, It worked this evening a sort since it...

You may still have some packaging materials left inside the unit. The plastic pan doesn't stay in side the bucket. It's used as a drain pan on the outside. Also, be sure the air intake filter is in place, is clean and there are no packaging materials behind it.

To extract more humidity, after checking all the things mentioned above. Lower the extraction level to 32 to 35%. Lower percentages means extraction of more humidity. (i.e.200% -35% = 5% drop in humidity).

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Where can I get a stopper to stop the water coming from the continious exit pipe and divert it into the water tank on my Amcor SD10 dehumidifier

Sorry it's taken so long for someone to respond to your question. The reason may be, that it's not very clear to us, what exactly you're trying to do. I think it's the part about "the water coming from the continuous exit pipe" and why you would want to run it into the dehumidifier tank?

So, if you could explain the specifics a little better, we may can help you.

Thanks

Have had the unit on for 24 hours now & the water tank has remained empty all this time. Any ideas on this Amcor Dehumidifier dc100 ?

Hi,

There are many reasons why a dehumidifier will not work or collect water.

Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier

Dehumidifier is running but no water is in bucket

Unit has stopped collecting water. Fan & Heater working ok. Been through problem page.None of those. Can you help please?

When it is below freezing outside, humidity drops inside.

Does it need to be running? A digital humidity sensor from Radio Shack is cheap and may tell you the humidity is OK - 50% or less.

Coils don't get cold enough to condense water

It will definately need a charge, however by the time you pay someone to come and service the unit a new one will start looking pretty good!

Amcor tc100 started to leak on the floor but is still working

Ive had same issue with this machine. i opened it up and cleaned the plastic channels leading into the tank. Dust can collect and block these channels, diverting the water onto the floor. This cleared that problem, but now the fan is not working, so im hunting for one going cheap...?
