I'm having a similar problem. The camera is a Sony DCR-TRV280. When you put a tape in the tray will not go down. However when the tray is empty and you push it shut it will go down. In other words the mechanism works fine without the tape but with the tape it doesn't. I hope the explanation is clear enough. Thanks

Since you asked the question the door on mine will open with and without the cassette. But as for closing and going back down automatically it will only do so if the tray is empty. With a tape in.... it can close but will not go down at all.

There is no VCR tape adapter. Because of the format (digital 8) and the dimensions. Please describe the door wont close problem in more details (does the door close without the cassette...) Waiting for your feedback info

1. Per the manual on esupport.sony.com
- if the power is disconnected door won't open, and if the battery is the dead the door won't open.
Plug it in and hopefully you can get the tape out.

Did this work?

I have a Sony Handycam DCR-HC-48 and the tape door won't close along with a 32.11 error code.....HELP

Try these steps:

1. Open the tape cover fully until it clicks open.
2. Turn the camcorder on to "VCR Mode."
3. With the cover still open and the camera in "VCR mode," take out the battery.
4. Put the battery back in--out should pop your tape.

Cannot find way to eject tapecassette

Check eject lever near battery, press it downward to open tape compartment, take out old tape and put new tape, close tape door and let it go inside by itself. Close tape compartment.

Below image will help you to locate eject button/ lever in DCR-HC18E camcorder.
Thanks.

When I put the tape in, the tape does not slide down as it is and the door close. The screen display shows C:32:11. I do not know what that means. Thank you!

The camcorder has detected an issue that may require a power reset.
To power reset,
  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.
  3. Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.

Yeah ! Your problem is very simple. u can solve it on your own.
If you dont put the tape the comparment closes well and as soon as you pot the tape the compartment does not close , Right ?
The solution is there within ur hands itself.
If you want the compartment to be closed, then simply dont put the tape inside. let it be outside itself. U see, its so easy !

My camcorder tape door won't close

Try removing the battery for a few seconds, and then re-inserting. This seems to reset something on my DCR-TRV20, and it starts closing properly.

My VCR is egecting the tape with the casstte adapter.

The cassette adapter uses 1 AA battery. When you place your VHSC tape into the adapter and close the cover, you will hear the motor running and the red piece on the adapter will move inside. Check the placement of the battery and make sure the clear shrink wrap has been removed from the battery
