Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls remove the memories underneath behind a panel/lid and clean the gold pins using a hard pencil erase. Thereafter, try again,

Should that not be corrective, may I suggest at this early stage of the repair to remove the hard drive of the Toshiba and using a 2.5 to USB adapter, connect said HD to a 2nd computer and backup/copy all your important files.

While performing the backup, pls try again the Toshiba (yes without the HD) and see if it will bot and display the message "No bootable media, press enter to continue" or or to that effect.

Problem as you have describe could indicate possible fault in:

  • CMOS/BIOS;
  • memory;
  • hard disk;
  • motherboard;
  • settings/configurations.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

    Try to boot it from CDROM with a bootable CD and choose repair option to repair your Operating system.

How to set up bios on toshiba laptop tecra m1

Hold down the Esc key and press and hold the power button until the on/off light on the system indicator panel illuminates (green) for approximately one second. When the following message appears on the screen: "Check system, Then press [F1] key," press F1. The System Setup screen appears.

If that doesn't work, try powering on the laptop and when the Toshiba splash screen comes up, hit F2 or F12.

One of these methods will get you in to the BIOS setup.
