    Hi Kaj,

Yes, automatic updates did work before. I have not been connected with a buisness or other network with this computer. It is a home computer too though. I have never been conneted with a buisness.

    Thanks Ang

Did it work before? It's most likely a SPYWARE/VIRUS that is disabeling this function (not unusual).

Is this a HOME PC or is it connected to business network? If it's not on a business network - has it ever been?

Please respond here so we can get this solved for you.

After getting windows updates, the laptop gets to stage 3 of 3 and keeps resetting itself, I can't load windows because whenever I do it automatically tries to complete the update, resets and repeats! The...

Start your system by pressing F8 during startup;Select "last know good configuration that works",It will most probably solve your problem.

If above thing doesn't work, repeat the same step by selecting "safe boot" and follow the instruction below

To remove Windows updates, there are two ways to do this:

1) Add / Remove Programs: Use the Add / Remove Programs tool in the Control Panel to remove the updates. Open it, and make sure the “Show Updates” box is checked (it’s located in the upper right of the tool). Scan through the list and see if you can find the updates you’ve mentioned below. Remove them if you see them. Reboot and see if you still have the problem. If you don’t find the updates listed here, you’ll have to use the second option below.

2) In your Windows XP Start Menu, go to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. The System Restore tool will start. Use that to restore your PC to a previous date – you should be able to select to restore to a time before those updates were installed. The tool will allow you to pick from certain times you can restore to. Pick the date and time that’s just before you installed the updates.

If neither of these fix the issue or remove the updates, then the problem is not something I can easily troubleshoot over email. There may be anything from hardware problems to network problems to CPU and process problems. To continue the troubleshooting, you’d be best off showing your PC to a local computer geek.

If removing the Windows updates fixes your problem, then we at least know the cause. If you’re really ambitious, you can reinstall those same updates one at a time to determine which one is causing the problem. At that point you can simply not install it, or keep an eye out for an update to the update!

What is an ArcCon ac application error0xc00000006?

What you describe falls under the general category of svchost.exe issues. Svchost.exe is used by your computer to access the registry and check the services to load during system startup. is an ArcSoft Connect Notifier. There are two possibilities why its happening:
  1. Microsoft releases regular security updates that are installed automatically on your computer by the Automatic Updates feature, which is enabled by default on your computer. The Svchost.exe Application error usually appears due to a problem with a recent update.
Closing the error message might freeze your computer. To fix this error, perform the following tasks.
  1. Open Control Panel, select Performance and Maintenance, and then select Services.
  2. In the System Properties dialog box, open the Automatic Updates tab.
  3. Next, select the Turn Off Automatic Updates option.
  4. Select Apply and then OK to accept your changes and exit the System Properties dialog box.
  5. Restart your PC.
  6. Ensure that you are connected to the Internet and then select the Windows Update command from Start > All Programs to manually update Windows.
  7. After the update is complete, enable the automatic updates again from System Properties > Automatic Updates.
This should rectify your application error. However, if the error keeps reappearing, then you might turn off automatic updates permanently and manually perform Windows updates at regular intervals.

Errors Caused By Virus Infection
Let's hope that this isn't the case. Lengthy procedure but if you are still having trouble, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

If you have system restore activated on your computer it will automatically make a restore point before installing any profram or update. Go to start > programs > accessories > system tools > System Restore. Click a restore point before the time you installed the update, iy should be listed, if you have to go back a few days just to make sure. Follow the prompts and let the computer reboot, it will wind itself back to the day it ran fine. Just make sure to not allow the printer to update that file again.
