Jenn Air Dual Fuel Fire problems

Many people on Epinions have said there is a fire problem with the Jenn Air catching fire. Have you had any experience with these problems?

    Yes, my 2.5 year old Jenn Air Dual Fuel double oven caught fire last week (firetrucks, the whole nine yards). Major problem with the inginators and gas values. After seeing it would be over $500 to fix, and then not knowing if the others would do the same, we decided to buy a new range last night. I found so many cases online of this problem, I wasn't willing to risk another fire (not with a 5 year old around). I wish I knew this before we shelled out 2 grand!

The pellets in the hopper on our Louisiana grill keep catching on fire, no amount of cleaning seems to help. Why are they catching on fire and what can we do?

* Check your warranty. call for support.

*** Following is for information only.***
* Any item that can burn will burn if it has; Fuel, Air, Space to burn.
* Pellets catching flame means all three items are available.
* Check your "Flame chamber" Is it open for full burn or searing position? (full open where you can see the pellets and lots of air can get to it? This air will allow the pellets to burn quickly.);
* Check if your cover to grill is fairly air tight as when it was new. Though the burn chamber is what keeps most of the air out. The lid also helps keep drafts from causing flare ups. Smoking requires "smothering" the fire. Keeping the air out.
* Check if your electrical power (extension cord) is okay.
* Check if your meat probe is still working and calibrated. If this probe (wires) are broken then the feed will think the meat is cold (or hot) and over feed (under feed) the burn kiln.
* Check with your vendor for advice.

Igniter of back burner dies not click or light

I had the same issue with washing the top with water and cleaning solution. I had arching, eventually one burner failed to ignite. I tried the above solution and it did not work. Remove the ceramic top on the burner that will not ignite. Turn on another working element. Do you see the igniter working?

If so slowly turn on the gas on the failed burner and it will ignite. I'm looking into what component automatically controls the igniting and gas release when the knob is turned on.

We had the same problem on a Thermador cooktop with the same RI-302 ignitor. Turns out it was one of the switches that sits on top of the gas valves. These switches cause the ignotor to fire when the valve is turned. In our case, one of the switches had malfunctioned and was "always on" causing the ignitor to continuously fire.
