Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

HD hookups I have tried both HD hookups on my TV the component and the HDMI. The component being hooked up causes a discolored purple line to roll up the screen repeatedly...if my HD converter is unhooked the line goes away and vice versa....the HDMI hums like a 1970 VW bug....very loud....I have a dlp television and did not have these problems when my XBOX 360 was hooked up in the HD ports....what can I do?

Re: HD hookups

Generally, hum is a by-product of interference between the AC power cord and wires carrying the signal. Try and arrange the power cord to be perpendicular to the input wire. If that does NOT work, I doubt a surge suppressor has anything to do with the issue. But try that first. Also, have you installed a surge protector? If not, then maybe you could think about installing one. Hope this helps

N64 colors do not work when hooked up to Vizio TV.

You probably have the RCAs in the component video hookups. Its easy to confuse them as they are similar ports. They are usually red, blue, and green. Look for the yellow, white, and red hookups. Those are for RCA connections as they don't work in the component hookups for HD video. i.e. blue-ray, PS3 That will cause the video to look grey and grainy.

Hi I'm trying to hook my xbox up to a Emerson tv

Check the component video inputs. A lot of manufactures incorporate a composite video input into the green component input. (meaning try to put the yellow cable into the green input) Also, check the sides and bottom of your TV. Some TV sets have some what hidden inputs for alternate AV setups. If you only have an RF setup then you will need to buy and hookup an RF modulator. (recommend you just buy a new TV if this is the case!) If you could have listed the model number of the TV then I could check to see what video inputs you actually do have and be able to assist you better. What I would recommend though is to purchase component video cables or use an HD hookup. You will find your video gameplay to be much better.

I tried to hook my wii to the new hd led flat screen but its black and white I tried doing the yello cable to green but it doesnt work and all the other inputs dont have ac jacks its just hdmi hookups

The yellow cable is RCA component and it sould not be connected to the Green port. Why not get a HDMi cable to make the hook up easier? Component RGB connection requires a RGB cable along with a stereo audio cable where as HDMI requires just one.

We bought a new samsung 32" flat screen TV. Our HD cable box is connected to the tv using the red/yellow/white cables. Is there an alternative way to connect my Wii without unplugging the HD box...

You'll need to purchase an HDMI cable and use that to connect your hd box to your tv. Your tv should have several HDMI connections on the back to facilitate the hookup and you will not have a true HD picture without that cable. You can buy this cable from the same place you bought your tv or www as well as many other electronics supply stores, hardware stores, or places like Kmart, Walmart, Bimart, etc. You can also buy a multi port Rh connector box that you can run multiple components through and just push the corresponding button for the component you wish to operate.
Hope this helps and please rate my solution!!

Which cable do i need to get my xbox to work on my HD tv

any will work asl long as your tv has the inputs available. but the _2_ that work the best i know personally is hdmi first and foremost. then your component cable (red, green, blue). i used them both on hd tv's and hdmi by far is the best. but if you have a vga (computer hookup) on your tv, i suggest trying the xbox vga cable second just as good as hdmi but the audio cables will hookup to another spot on the back of the tv. hope this helps.

Playstation 3 hook up problem

I ended up using the component in cable hookup and fiber optic digital audio instead of HDMI - works fine.

Xbox 360

Hi there

As far as I'm aware the only way to get hd with the older boxes that don't have hdmi socket is through component unfortunately.

Microsoft have indeed pulled a fast one with this and cunningly released the elite for more profit.

I think the only difference betwen component and hdmi is that hdmi has built in audio in one wire where as with component you require seperate audio.

In short, No. HD only via component.

Hope this is of help
