Question about Whirlpool 25.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with In-Door-Ice Dispensing System

No power to control unit in fridge

Several days ago, I opened the refridgerator on my 4 yr old whirlpool gold series side by side fridge. The light blew out. Not a problem originaly since the light lasted 4 yrs. The next day I realized there seemed to be no power at all to the setting indicator lights and filter status light that is also housed within the same unit as the light. I then changed the light and it will not work. Since the fridge freezer seems to be working fine, i assume it is a fuse but don't know where to look. First thought is that it may be within the door open switch that could have gone bad? Is it as simple as replacing the door open light switch?

I had the same thing happen this morning. I have a repair man on site right now. He says its a control board and just went back to his shop to get a new one.

I'll post again if this fixes the issue.

My refrigerator is just about 5 years old. The other day my wife opened the door and there was a pop and the lights on the control panel and the refrigerator lights went out. There is a clicking noise when the door is open. I am guessing but I think there was a voltage drop when whatever snapped because the light bulbs have a strange orange glow, as if there is not enough voltage to light them up. The refrigerator and freezer are maintaining temperature I just do not have light or the control panel lit up. Sounds like the aforementioned $400.00 fix. I will NEVER buy another Whirpool product.

My whirlpool gold refridgerator- w/freezer on bottom- is less than 1 yr old and has started freezing everything in the fridge.

The temperature thermistor may need to be replaced. If under a year old should be covered under warranty.

Whirlpool Gold refrigerator is not making ice. Just stopped 3 days ago for no apparent reason. Fridge is 6 months old.

as long as the fridge is working properly the only thing that it could be would be the icemaker...the fridge should still be under factory warranty if it's 6 months old so they should cover it

Whirlpool gold:upper half of refridgerator side not cold

Either the evap fan has a problem, or the defrost system has failed. You should never see frost in the freezer section as the defrost sensor should sense that the coils need to be defrosted before that much frost accumulates.

Unplugging to clean out helped because the frost got a chance to melt away.

If you find the evap motor is running, then the things to check are the defrost sensor, the defrost timer, and the defrost heater.

Whirlpool Gold Ice Maker Quit Working

IF THE FRIDGE IS COOLING AND FREEZING WITHOUT AND HASSLE THEN YOU DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR CONTROL BOARDS.ALSO IF THE WATER IS STILL COMING OUT THE WATER SIDE OF IT.YOU NEED TO LOCATE THE WATER VALVE AND CHECK IF THE VALVE TO THE ICE MAKER IS NOT BLOWN THAT MIGHT BE THE CAUSE OF THE FRIDGE NOT MAKING ICE.

GOOD LUCK.

Whirlpool gold refridgerator light not working and is making funny noise

Had the identical symptoms with my Whirlpool Gold GS6SHEXNB00 side-by-side refrigerator. Had a technician come on site, indicated it was the "circuit board/ timer" (Whirlpool part # 1394052). Board is accessible from behind fridge (lower left side in a white plastic housing to left of compressor).

Swapped the board out (noticed a scorched circuit on the old circuit board). Lightbulbs now work, temperature readouts also good to go.

Our fridge does not make ice - Whirlpool Gold side-by-side GS5SHAXNT00

Same as others. Whirlpool Gold side-by-side. Water was running yesterday but minimal ice. Now that's gone and I don't even hear the water. Turned on/off the infrared sensor. Still get drinking water, just no ice in the bin. There's a couple cubes in the maker itself when I open the door (which I've closed completely). Help?
