Hello rdfrazier,

Open the card bay of your camera, extract the memory card. On the card, at the right side edge, you will notice a small slider type tab/button. Slide it to the opposite extreme. Your card ought to be unlocked now.

Pictures won't transfer to computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( ).

When i try to take a picture it says "no memory card" I have tried several different memory cards and made sure they were all "unlocked"

I know that you've also tried the tiny locking slide switch on the side of the card? But if so, the next thing to try is the lock switch in the camera itself. See the "toothpick fix" in this link.

My canon power shot A470 is writing card locked

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

How do I erase my pictures from canon powershot S51S

Formatting the memory card is the quickest way, go through your camera menu until you find the format option.

I would reccommend downloading a user guide from the Canon web site. Follow links for support and downloads.

Canon PowerShot S51S camera, trying to transfer photos from computer onto the memory card so we can use the card in a digital photo frame? Don't know how to transfer?

you have to use the data cable (which one come with your camera) to store pictures to your XP/Vista PC. Just connect the cable into your camera and PC, your PC detected your camera automatically as an drive, then you can transfer pictures.

Won't import one movie file

This is not so much a solution as a comment: It is common and most likely that you can not 'do' anything with that file because it has become corrupt.
As I said, files on removable media becoming corrupt is not uncommon, actually, quite common. Simple things can cause it, turning off the camera before all the file information has been written, the camera sustained a heavy bump which may have temporarily interupted power supply or contact to the card which interupted writing.
I'm not familiar with any recovery software for videos on those cards but there may be some. If you delete moved files off the camera, leave that one on there in case we can recover the video.
As for the moment, I think that file is lost.

How do I get pics back that were deleted?  have a canon power shot S5 1S camera.  please help nicole

Hi There, Do not record any more pics on that card as it will erase the already deleted pictures. Sounds dunb but its true. You could take the card to a electronics shop and they may be able to get your pics back or you could buy a new card that has retreaval software included with it and do it your self.
Thanks, mr cicmo
