My TV will not stop switching itself off

Hi, The first thing to do is troubleshoot your TV independent to any other service provider that has a box that probably connects to your TV via a HDMI cable or old version scart.

Simply turn off your TV and turn off the socket that the TV is plugged in for 20 mins. Also turn of any Virgin media boxes.

After 20 mins turn on the TV. Do not worry if you get a message saying no signal detected. Wait and see if the TV stays on with no messages such as auto-standby. If the TV remains on with no problems then turn on your Virgin Media Box. The box will need to initialise ( about 30 seconds ) and then the TV should recognise the HDMI signal and you will see the Virgin TV.

If your TV turns off at any point during this process you have a fault with the TV, If when you turn on the Virgin box and no signal is detected you have either a cable connection problem or a Virgin Box problem, so using your TV REMOTE turn your TV back to ARIEL input to receive the normal television broadcasts via your Ariel that give you the normal freeview television that all modern TV's can receive, if you can get the normal reception contact virgin support who will troubleshoot your problem.

I have Calandar Creator 10 and have created a family calandar which I use from year to year that includes birthday events, holidays etc. and phases of the moon. This year, when I went from Dec. 2010 to...

Calendar Creator 10 has the four moon phases from Jan 1990 thru Dec 2010. To extend past 2010:
- File Open Collection ' Local Disk(c:)'Program Files'Calendar Creator' Template'Events'Phases of the Moon.bcc
-For each of the four events (First Quarter, Full Moon, Last Quarter, and New Moon) change the Repeat Until date past 12/31/2010 to 12/31 of the year you will add data for
-For each of the four events, click Advanced Repeat Rule you can selete the drop down under Exceptions / Pick exception and there you can see the dates by month and year from Jan 1990 thru Dec 2010 for the event. You need to extend this list. First obtain the moon phases from some web site like www.timeanddate.com/calendar. (note that this site calculates the mone phases base on New York time). The simply select each of the dates for the event you are modifying by clicking that date on the calendar in the upper right hand of the screen. Just advance the calendar thru the months and years you want to enter data for. You can check the list when finished by selection the ExceptionS Pick exception drop down box.
- Save your changes by clicking OK and Ok again. Make changes for all for events.
- Select File and Save Collection
- You need to replace the Phases of the moon events in your calendar by removing the old events and importing the new events. To remove the old Phases of the moon in your calendar, select Events'Categories highlight Phases of the moon and delete. Then add back the changed events by File'Import Events and browse for the Phases of the moon.bcc file you changed.
I hope this gets you what you need.

Connection

The Eurovox should be connected to your TV with the Virgin box tucked away in a cupboard somewhere!
A Eurovox is a cable receiver used instead of a Virgin or NTL box, usually to obtain access to unsubscribed channels.
What are you trying to do, perhaps I can assist with more information.
Good luck.

Hi thanks for the info i got a box off my mate that he used and this wouldnt work on my line but my virgin box works fine so it looks like they have clued up and managed to scramble the signal. Maybe someone will find a way of doing the newer boxes and solving your problem.
I cant see the firmware programmes being able to get round the scrambled signal on the older boxes so i think its a case of waiting till the new boxes can be sorted if i hear anythink ill post back a message for you hear.
I spoke to a mate who works with virgin as a tech and he said ha has seen a couple of boxes that he took of people that could view all channels so what he done was kept a box for himself and he is going to get back to me when he gets chance to look at whats been changed on the box.
Till now he thought it wasnt possible but when virgin called him to collect the boxes as they were being used when they wasnt paying subscription cus he said virgin can see what your watching now where as the ntl boxes couldnt do this.
But he said they wouldnt have got caught if they paid for the basic package because he said virgin found out the signal was coming from their addresse without them paying for using the box, so he said if you paid for the basic package then you wouldnt get caught so what hes going to do is find out how they hacked the box and then he will let me know ok then ill let you know ok.

The only problem you might have is getting the new virgin box he said the only way he can see round this is if you piad for basic package then have the box upgraded then at least virgin would know you had a box and would be less obvious what was happening ok.

So ill post message back for you in the next week or so ok
so speak soon, also if you find anything out then let me know ok
