That is part of your firewall software. I suspect that you are running Zone Alarm as your personal firewall and part of it is failing. Many firewall providers want you to "fail safe" so when their product fails they block your internet connection. I suggest that you uninstall it and use the windows firewall. Unfortunately this may NOT open your internet connection. All you can do at that point is look on the Zona alarm website to see if they can tell you how to completely remove it or just reinstall the product in the home that it will fix the issue.

You are a bit confused with the various components required for Internet connections.
If you have a dial-up connection with an Internet Service Provider, all you do is connect your computer's modem port to the phone line and dial the phone number of your Internet Service provider.
If you are connected to the Internet Servise Provider by ADSL and have a combined ADSL router and modem then you connect the phone line to this router/modem. If the ADSL modem is separate component then the phone line is connected to the ADSL modem and this modem is connected to the router with a LAN cable and the computer is connected to the router with another LAN cable. If the route is wireless and the computer has a wireless card then you don't need a LAN cable between the router and the computer.
If you are connected to the Internet by ADSL, to secure your Internet connection and configure your computer so it can connect to the Internet, please follow my instruction - click on this link :-

no, but you need to configure the router to connect to the internet, you should have a "quick start guide" that will help you connect to your router and set your ADSL dial settings (as it needs this to connect you to your internet service)

once these connection settings are set you should be able to connect to the internet

you can then explore the other settings including the wireless configuration of your router

I cannot connect to the internet with my belkin wireless adapater and i don't know why, please help.

you need more than a wireless adapter to connect to the internet......
you need a wireless network to connect to. in cafe's and pubs the owner sometimes sets up a WiFi network that their patrons can connect to, however most people have to provide their own.

to get to the internet , you will need.

A broadband connection (ADSL / Cable) this normally comes with a standard NON wifi modem
A WiFi Router (including ADSL / Cable Modem) depending on what you have already.

then to link a remote PC / Laptop to this network, A suitable wireless adapter ( like your belkin adapter)

it is a common misconception that a wireless adapter is all you need (advertising is vague)

How to set up my belkin adsl modem with built in wireless router (8o2.11g/54 mbps) with my broadband connection?

There may be a set up wizard disk with the router so you can put in your broadband account details etc to get you running.

The wireless side of things will almost certainly require you to use a cable to connect you PC to the router and log in using internet explorer

Post the model number of the router so I can assist you in more detail

I have a new Belkin G router. Have managed to connect to Internet with LAN cable but cannot connect to Wireless system . If I remove the LAN cable I lose the Internet connection

You have to configure your router to enable a wireless connection. First, you should find out in the documentation what is the IP address of your router. It is specific for each brand. It is something like 192.168.0.100. In your web browser, in the address area (where we usually type http://www...), you type the IP adress of your router. You will be able to configure it. Refer to your guide or go to Belkin website, with your product number.

When using the Belkin G router the network connection becomes lost and can not get on the internet. My computer has Vista on it and Belkin says that the router is compatible with the program.

This is possibly caused by your firewall or the wireless security (wpa/wep) on the router if you have set it up.
First of all, if you can connect to the internet via a cabled connection the problem is going to be with the way you've set the router up.
If you've setup wireless security on the router, have you also set it up for your wireless adaptor?.
I suggest you try to connect to the internet via cable to start with, if this works try to connect wirelessly with your firewall off.
If all else fails start from the beginning again.
