There are several reasons to this problem but the first reason may be because of over heating problem therefore just check the processor fan whether it is running in its speed or not.

Just put the heatsink paste in the processor which also may solve the problem

If it shuts down normally then all you may have to do is a system restore to when it didn't have the problem. To do that, all you need to do is press start, press run, then type msconfig from there after pressing enter you will see the button system restore.

If it shuts down randomly (as in the entire computer just goes capluey and everything just stops working) It is most likely a grounding issue inside the laptop (electrical short circuit) and to be honest, your computer is trying to protect itself by turning off. The best way to solve it is to have a tech inspect the motherboard on the lappy, or get it replaced. A temporary solution MIGHT be to press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds with the battery taken out and the AC adapter disconnected, and then shaking the computer, and tapping it (gentle to moderately) underneath (best to flip the lappy over to do this. This will knock off anything conducting that you wouldn't be able to get at. Again this is a temporary solution and may or may not work. I hope it does though! :)

I would get the battery first. But worst case you have a bad power connection on the board that needs to be resoldered or replaced.

It has problems getting it to turn on.. and when it does turn on, it suddenly turns off by itself after 10 to 15 minutes

It could be overheating (due to the failure of a fan inside the laptop) causing the computer to "self-protect" by shutting itself down.

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Purchase a can of compressed air.
Use the air to give a "blow-job" into every air-port in the laptop -- a layer of dust will act as a layer of insulation, preventing the computer from radiating the build-up of heat.

When you turn the computer on, listen for the fan(s) to start running -- put the hairs on your arm near an "exhaust-port" on the PC, to feel if the fans are blowing air out of the laptop.

Please get your laptop charger checked, it might be giving more output than it is supposed to. Get it checked as soon as possible to prevent any damage to the laptop itself.

Laptop turns on for 5 secs then turns itself off. The Toshiba screen appears and 2 secs later turns completely off. Is this a virus or some other issue?

sound like power supply or battery. first try running the laptop on battrey if the problem persists, then pull battry and try running on Power Supply only. if problem is fixed then your battery has gone bad.

Sounds like something to do with a power saving feature either from HP itself or from Windows. It could also be that for some reason your computer is overheating, which it than shuts itself off to protect the processor. I would try playing with your power saving features, and cleaning out the fans.

Check that the cpu fan is working. In easynote usually you uncrew a panel at the back of the laptop. If it is not that may be a common system problem, in that case reinstall your system.
