Re: Compatability with Vista

I use mine in Vista with USB cable, Samsung Vista driver which works in Device Manager, but not Windows Vista Scanners and Cameras. I loaded ULead 6.0 which comes with the camera, and have no problems. This is not the way I want it to work, but it does allow me to use my camera. I would much rather Capture to Microsoft Windows Movie Maker. I do love this camera, seems they are still selling them, so hopefully Samsung with fix the driver. Microsoft lists it as Microsoft Certified Compatible? Not quite.

Re: Compatability with Vista

You shouldn't need drivers, it should work with Windows Movie Maker automatically but i've found that this camera DOES NOT TRANSFER VIDEO WITH A USB cable, regardless of what every BestBuy employee tells you. The USB only transfers still pictures from the memory card. The instruction manual is not definitive on this, but most cameras that are MiniDV that have both USB and IEEE1394 ports like this one operate similarly. Get a firewire cable and a firewire card on your pc and you'll be fine. If you use a MAC, quicktime pro and imovie will also transfer videos using only a firewire connection. i's really lame, but lots of cameras that have both usb and 1394 ports on them work this way.

Re: Compatability with Vista

You will need to contact the camcorder company and see if they have an up date for the Vista compadability as this is a problem with alot of devices since microsoft pulled this stinker of a program on us. Good luck

DCR-TRV140E Problem.

check the driver to see if it is installed,
control panel/ hardware & sound / Device manager/ imageing devices
the cam needs to be conected via USB and switched on while you do this if it isn't, install from here
using XP compatability mode.

Your cam is not supported by Sony on Vista so download another video captute programme as the original won't work, but you still need the Sony usb driver. FX does work on Vista

Any probs you can get me on

I have a camcorder that says it has webcam capabilties, but i dont know how to use it or even find how to use it! the camcorder is the brand Aiptek the make is ISDV2.4 where can i find the webcam???

Install the driver software on your system. If you don't have it, you can download it from under the support tab.

If you have windows vista be sure to set the setup.exe compatability to windows xp before trying to install. (Right click on setup.exe, go to 'compatability' tab, set to windows xp, click ok.) If you already installed it on vista without setting the compatability just run the setup again and choose the 'remove' option, then reinstall it with the correct compatability.

Once the drivers are correctly installed a shortcut should be added to your desktop labeled "DV TS". You can open this to check that the driver is working properly. Be sure to have plugged your camera in through the USB port next to the SD card slot.

At this point if everything has gone well, then you should be able to select it as a video source in whichever Instant Message program you choose to use. Providing that program supports webcams.
-Refer to the IM program's help file for instructions on how to select a video source / web cam.

Cannot download video to windows vista

A USB cable will not transfer video from this camera. you have to have the video cable, which plugs in at the bottom of the front of the camera, next to the S-video. Hope this helps.

Usb driver problem

the fault lies with the company for not creating vista drivers.

but calm down, dude. Is there something wrong with using XP? everyone knows vista is rife with driver issues, surely you didn't ENTIRELY expect something made for XP would definitely work on Vista? That's just a bit naive.

I think the issue here ("I am having problems with the compatability with my sony handicam dcr-30 and windows vista.") is in attempt to acquire drivers or workarounds for the problem.

I myself have a slightly different model, but have heard that using a firewire cable, in conjunction with a mysterious 'work in XP mode' function hidden somewhere in Vista (Ultimate?) has proved to be a success with some Sony Handycams.

This is the sort of thing we're meant to be talking about here, and nobody's gonna benefit from merely bashing the reputation of the company responsible, no matter how frustrating it may be.
