Washer fills but won't wash or drain yet it cycles KUDM24SEAL1

Hi, I have a KitchenAid model KUDM24SEAL1and just recently it stopped washing, although it will still fills up with water and the front panel indicates that it is going through its normal cycles. It doesn't drain either at the end of the rinse cycle. It stopped functioning properly after a plastic piece on the upper spray arm mount broke when I was loading the dishwasher. I replaced the upper spray arm assembly (mount, sprayarm, manifold, and plastic pipe) but it still doesn't wash once it fills. As the front panel lights up, I deduce that it is getting power okay. Any ideas or thoughts that would point me in the right direction would be very helpful. Many thanks in advance.-Mark

Hi rpbuice, thanks very much for your helpful advice. The dishwasher front panel lights up, but there is no noise being issued, motor or otherwise. Would the motor be below the lower spray arm you think? And would there be any readily identifiable power lead connecting to it? I have the tools so taking it apart wouldn't be a problem. The broken plastic angle sounds very possible. I will check into that. Thanks again for your help. -Mark

Check to see if power is getting to the motor. If it is then you have a bad motor. Is the motor making a noise? Some of that broken plastic could have got down into the pump and have it locked up.

Yes, you can access the motor through the front bottom panel. Usually the white is ground and blue or black is the power. The power goes to the door latch - Timer - Motor, in that order.

I have a kitchenaid dishwasher model KUDMOITJBLO installed as new unit in Oct. 2002 in a new home. Current problem is water coming from front door, bottom as unit starts wash cycle after filling. Leak is...

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.I would start by removing the outer door panel remove the screws around the inner door to do this. Then close the door and start a cycle. Sometimes you can see obvious signs of leaks just by removing the panel too. But if not let it run and see if you see water leaking anywhere. You will see water in the bottom corners its normal. If water is splashing over those corners the check the lower spray arm gor damage or cracks it can cause this problem also make sure the screws under the spray arm are tight. also check the upper arm.

Washer won't stop filling

Does the water stop filling if machine is unplugged? If yes, bad water valve inside washer.

If water stops when unplugged, may be a faulty pressure switch or airdome hose came loose from switch - located in control panel - water level switch.

If water keeps filling and never overflows onto floor - likely that water is siphoning out drain hose. Raise drain hose higher or allow an air break at the drain hose exit.

Will not stop filling water

Your fill hose that runs off the drum to the fill control controller on the front panel either has a leek an needs replaced or the controller its self need replacing, the line is cheaper, also look on the drum were the line go to, make show there is no leaks, this is a low presser an vacuum line,

My dishwasher starts fills water and never starts wash cycle?

If you hear a hum when it should be washing, the motor has seized. Replace motor. If it fills with water and stops quite, run it through a test using the tech sheet under the bottom panel to access. These dishwasher have had issues with the motor.
