It may be Damp. Remove batteries Put camera in a snap shut Poly bag with a cloth[handkerchief knotted] of rice or salt and place in a warm place for a few days. See if that does the trick. Then come back

I have a lg flat screen monitor, the words are blurred

Is it just the fonts that are blurry, or everything? If fonts only, then this almost certainly suggests that running the ClearType tuner again would solve the problem. But this applies to all displays, so if one is good and the other is not, then this isn't it.

If everything is a little blurry, then this suggests one of two problems -- the first, you report trying, which is that the display adapter is set to a different resolution than the native resolution of the LCD monitor itself. Your display adapter should probably be able to drive 2 monitors (the built-in laptop monitor and the external monitor) at once. You should be able to set their resolutions separately.

Assuming Windows XP: Start > Control Panel > Display > Settings > at which point, you should see two monitors listed in a dropdown. Set them to their native resolutions there (using the slider bar, usually all the way to the right), and save.

If you do have the display resolutions set to their native resolutions for both monitors, then it's possible that your external monitor is messed up. A quick test would be to run the on-screen settings, usually from a button on the monitor itself. If what is displayed there is sharp and what is displayed from Windows is not, then this points to a problem with the display driver. If everything, even the on-screen display is blurry, then perhaps the monitor settings are messed up -- usually there's an option to restore to factory settings -- try that.

LENS AUTO FOCUS NOT WORKING

Gee I have one of these. Nice camera too.

Check you don't have the auto focus switch on the left side of the lens barrel switched to manual. I've knocked that switch when getting it out of my bag and it took me a minute to find the fault. Very easily knocked so keep an eye on it. Go through your menu and make sure everything is as it should be. If everything checks out I'm afraid it's a Sony repair agent you'll be saying hello to. I wouldn't advise trying to pull it apart yourself unles you are confident. I pulled my second one apart and had a great time getting it all alighned to put back together. Mainly because I pulled it down one week and waited another 3 weeks until I tried reassembling it. Always try to reassemble straight after fixing it. Don't give that brain time to forget important parts and where they go.
If there is a fault it would be in the lens area but after owning 2 of them and the 818s I found no problems in this area and never had a customer have any problems there either. But there's always a first time.
Try that darned switch first though. One other thing it's just possible to try. Make sure your battery is fully charged and in good health. They can cause some weird faults if the voltage is getting low. The focus motor does draw a bit of current.

There's another thought. If the auto/manual switch isn't the culprit. Actually switch it to manual and see if you can focus it by hand. If you can't then it's definitely something major and one last thing. Check your Diopter. The little adjustment alongside the viewfinder. If this is out of adjustment it will give an out of focus blurry look too.

If this has been of any help would you mind letting me know what the exact fault was. It will come in handy with mine. Thanks and good luck

How can I make fonts look good in an LCD monitor ?

The VGA connection should be fine; I have DVI and when I switched from analog, the difference was pretty minimal, to my eyes.

Is it just the fonts that are blurry, or everything? If fonts only, then this almost certainly suggests that running the ClearType tuner again would solve the problem. But this applies to all displays, so if one is good and the other is not, then this isn't it.

If that doesn't work, I'm probably out of ideas, unless you have further information.

Toshiba A105 Laptop Screen blurry and iconcs mishaped

Go to the display properties control panel and move the resolution slider all the way to the right. Sounds like you are set in a non widescreen display mode. I think your model has a native resolution of 1280X800.

Help! My flash isn't working!

1 The flash- with the camera shut down take the batteries out. leave an hour. put them back in. Now - switch on and go to flash mode. Hold the camera to your ear.Can you hear a slight hgih pitched whine? This is the capacitor charging up. If you did not hear it then the flash unit is dead. But to be sure- read the manual and make sure you have set it up and operating it correctly. Blurry picture are something else[possibly] Check that you have not inadvertantly got the camera set to MACRO mode[this may also affect the flash inability. A good reread of the manual will do little harm and check out all those controls again.
