Can't display Pal on My Sony 57" KP-57WS520

I have a Sony 57" KP-57WS520 TV. I am trying to play a Pal disc on my NTSC TV. I have a PAL-NTSC Converter and have run my system through that.

How ever when I insert the Pal disc, the sound works fine, but the screen "rolls".

Is there any way with this TV that I can get it to display a Pal [50hz??] signal? Is there a way of stopping the screen from "rolling".

Appreciate your help, it's really annoying I thought the converter would work.

Thanks.

Dave

    Hey Dan,

I am trying to play the PAL disc in my NTSC PS2. When I put the disc in it loads fine, but the screen rolls and appears to be in black and white.

I can get the screen to not roll and be in color. But I am from Ireland and I am trying to get the Singstar Karaoke Games from there to play. [My Dad sent them over].

When that happens the audio and video are out of sync....Which is a problem when trying to play Karaoke games!

    I bought a cheap PAL----->NTSC Converter off ebay :

    http://www.mayflash.com/others/pc034/pc0...

And having run what I think is the PAL signal from the PS2 through the converter it still displays the rolling screen. Almost like it has no effect.

It does say a lot about your NTSC TV running at 50hz, that may have something to do with it, I don't see a "V-Hold" Button or a menu to change such settings.

Hope that gives you more to go on, appreciate your response.

    Dave

There are probably a few problems here. What are you using to play the disc? Some NTSC players will "play" a PAL disc but interpret it as NTSC with the symptom you are describing. You need a DVD player that will play PAL. Many of those will output NTSC directly when set up to do so. The other alternative is to have a PAL compatible player that will output PAL into the converter. To narrow this down specifically, please post the model numbers and the connection scheme for your equipment. Once I understand your current setup, I should be able to describe a method to get this to work for you.

The problem is that the PS2 has circuitry designed to process NTSC signals not PAL. The output from the PS2 is NTSC. The disc will play fine because it is nothing but a stream of digital information that is converted to an analog NTSC signal. The converter would work IF you had a PAL PS2. The sync info is not being created properly during the digital to analog (DA) conversion. Other than using a PAL system and then the converter, I think you are out of luck.

Are you in the US? Your TV system is NTSC. The player possibly plays NTSC and PAL(European system) discs on PAL TVs only. Try to find out from the user manual of the DVD player if you can change the output signal to NTSC. Now it is PAL even though you are playing NTSC discs.

Please help

Have you try: NTSC on PAL TV On • NTSC discs will play correctly on PAL-only TVs.
Off Use if your TV is already NTSC-compatible.

Many recent PAL TVs are compatible with NTSC input and so this setting can be switched off. Check the operating
instructions that came with your TV. See also About NTSC on PAL TV on page 124 for related information.

How to turn a sony bdp-s790 dvd multi region

Buy two players. One from each region.
If you ave an NTSC TV only, you will also need a PAL to NTSC converter, if you want to play UK PAL DVD`s on US or Asian TV`s. But I think all Euro/UK TV`s are all both color signals (PAL & NTSC).

I HAVE A SONY WEGA TV KV27FS13 . WILL THIS WORK ON PAL SYSTEM

I'm sorry to inform you that the TV cannot be used directly with PAL color system. However, you can use a PAL to NTSC converter to resolve the issue. You can get the PAL to NTSC converter from any local Electronics Shop.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any clarifications.

Convert ntsc to pal for sony bravia tv

While a modern PAL TV can display NTSC sources (namely DVD players and PAL VHS players that support pseudo-NTSC), an NTSC TV can not display a PAL source, unless it's an expensive multi-standard TV. Sorry pal, bad choice.

No colour..

Sounds like you're feeding the ADVC the wrong broadcast format. Either PAL when the ADVC is in NTSC mode, or NTSC when the ADVC is in PAL mode.

Alternatively, your capture software may have a broadcast format setting as well, and that may not be matching what the ADVC is sending out. Remember that the ADVC does not do NTSC<->PAL format conversion, so NTSC analog input becomes NTSC DV, and PAL analog input becomes PAL DV.
