It seems to be an issue with the printer drivers on the computer,You need to check for any queued documents,if they are there,if yes, delete them,if not go ahead and unintsall the printer drivers from the control panel>printers and faxes and then restart your computer and then try a plug and play if its a USB printer ...it would work....

Keeps telling me the printer is offline

Check the status of the printer at Control Panel. Set it to online if it's shown as offline. If this doesn't fix the problem, check whether installing the vista driver available at your printer manufacturer's website helps.

Step 1:
a. Click Start, go to Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound.
b. Click Printer.
c. If the Printer is offline, it shows "Offline" status. If the Printer is online it shows "Ready".
d. If the Printer is offline, set it to online.
e. Right-click on the printer and select "Use Printer Online".
f. The display should change to ready when the printer is set to online.

Step 2:
If still you are facing issues, then update the printer driver. This should fix the problem.

My printer says it is offline but the status monitor at the bottom of the screen says its ready... but will not print.. whats going on?

I've been suffering the same problem, but I think I havefound a solution. I have a MFC9320CW. It was showing 'ready' on the computer, but 'offline' on the Status Monitor.

My printer is set up to go to sleep after 5mins. I thought this was a problem,as initially it looked like it was in a coma, but it turns out it's ok.

I installed the software on my desktop (windows7) and after a bit of time thestatus monitor turned from offline to sleep. From here you can go into the(CC3) ControlCentre3 ->Device settings -> Remote setup and enter thepassword = access. Please note if the status monitor is showing offline youwill get an error message. A new window opens up. I went down to -> WLAN-> TCP/IP and then I changed the IP address, subnet mask and IP gatewaysettings, I also changed IPv6 to enabled. I applied these settings and then theprinter appeared to work as I expected it to.

I got the IP address etc from the printout I got when I initially set up theprinter.

I've been able to scan through the CC3 at my desktop; from the printer and thescan has gone to the desktop; and also from Adobe Acrobat8 at my desktop. I then set up a laptop (vista), first off I uninstalled allthe Brother software I had put on it as I'd managed to put the software onseveral times. When I installed the new software I chose the option MFL-Prowithout paperport11. When the status monitor opened and it was in the sleepmode I went to the CC3 -> Device settings -> WLAN and found all thesettings had been adjusted to those I had set for the printer at the desktop. I've now gone through installing it on a second laptop (XP).Again uninstalled previous attempts, then reinstalled MFL-Pro without paperport11 and this too is now working. So, if need be uninstall then install the software again. When you get the status monitor showing sleep/ready go into the ControlCentre3,change the settings as above, then all should be well. Since changing these settings the status monitor hasn't yetgone back to offline. I'd struggled for days before I got it sorted; the onlinehelp hadn't been much help. I hope this helps.

The only light on my router is the router light. No other lights are coming on. I have tried rebooting.

When facing the router, Globe/Internet LED is on the right. Below are the LED indicators; Check the steps below:

Wireless Security - This light will only turn on if the wireless security is enabled.

Wireless-Computer Status - This light will turn on if a wireless computer is connected to the router.

Wired-computer Status - This light will turn on if a wired computer is connected to the router. Connect the wired computer to any gray port on the router. (There are 4 gray ports).

Router Status - Power light. Solid blue means the router is on and ready.

Modem Status - If this is off, it means the router is not connected to the modem. Make sure the cable is connected from the modem to the yellow port on the router.

Internet Status - This light will indicate if the router is connected to the internet.

If this is the first time you are installing the router, then what is important is to get the router, wired-computer and modem lights ON. Once they are on, you may insert the CD that came with the Belkin router to setup the internet connection and wireless settings.

Inspiron 6400 wirless connection

HI
If the browser shows working offline and wireless is connected fine then it could be an issue where work offline is checked in the browser.
In internet explorer 6 its found on File in the menu, if work offline is already checked, check it again to remove the check mark and then try, if its internet explorer 7 its found on tools, the same steps and in firefox under file,
Also try this step as well, if its internet explorer go to tools-internet options-and in internet options-go to connections tab-there is dial up and networking box-remove the dial up connections from the box-and check the one never dial a connection

also check the firewalls and antivirus programs, post your results.

thank you

Brother mfc 665cw connection error

I have a MFC665CW connected wirelessly to a router and a pc connected by ethernet to the router, with a broadband satellite receiver connected to the WAN port of the router (plan to add another PC to the network soon, so have set up the network in advance). I had trouble with the brother status montior flashing 'Ready' then 'Offline' all the time, when I knew the printer was always connected to the network. I had set up the DHCP stuff on the router to allocate IP addresses to everything that connects to the network, like you are supposed to. I updated drivers and firmware, but the problem continued.
When I checked the router status log I saw that one MAC address in the network was making a DHCP request every 5 minutes (i.e. it was asking the router to allocate it an IP address at regular intervals). Every time the router answered that request it made the Brother status monitor go 'offline'. The MAC address was my broadband modem. I fixed the issue by setting the router to allocate a static IP address to the MAC id for my broadband modem (in the DHCP setup section in the router's admin interface). That stopped the dynamic IP address requests from the broadband modem and the Brother status monitor works fine now. I also set static IP adresses for the printer and PC to be on the safe side, although I don't think that matters.
So, check your network log and look for a MAC id that makes regular DHCP requests and then set a static IP address for it. Hope this helps you guys too.
