check power settings by opening control panel -> power options. Check when is the computer set to go to sleep and when to turn of the display. This might be caused by Windows power settings that put the computer to sleep to save power.
All the Notebooks and Netbooks are shipped with a seperate Software for the Battery.
This Software provides the functionality for the Battery.
Once this Software is installed, the Computer will detect the Battery normally.
You may obtain this Software from the Windows Installation Discs which were shipped with the Computer.
You may also download this Software from the Toshiba Support website.
The name of the Software should start as "Battery Checker, Battery Utility" etc.,
remove the battery and power cord for a few minutes then try again. if that doesnt work, remove the ram and put it back in. there is a good chance you friend something. do you have the power ratings of the aftermarket charger you tried? and did it turn on at all with the aftermarket one?
You may have pressed the Fn (function key) and F10 by accident at some time, pres Fn and F10 again to turn off the embedded cursor keypad, this enables/dissables the light grey labeled keys.
This is all i can find related to that key, otherwise the other function is a light to show the dvd is active, but that icon doesnt look like a 4 leaf clover.
This may be the problem when you type, so either the keyboard sensors are faulty or turn off the Fn F10 cursor use, or go to my computer>right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager and in the next window look down to ythe line that says keyboards, click '+'sign and on the line below right click then select uninstall.
Restart notebook and the keyboard will self install again hopefully the problem will be solved.
