Screen is black except for one thin line near the middle

After the tv is on for hours the screen goes black except for a thin colorful line in the middle of the screen. after a few minutes the picture will return and then goes out again. The next day the picture is fine for the first hour or two then the problem reoccurs.

SOURCE: My picture is black except for a thin horizontal line

hi When you let the line to long it will burn in!! you need to look into the VERTICAL output section. Most notably check the solder joints on the vert output IC and ESR the caps. If you don't know what any of that means, then take it to a professional. good luck

SOURCE: No Picture On Screen and red line in middle.

The set has a vertical problem if the line you mention is from side to side ,if the line is from top to bottom the problem is in the horizontal circuit and both can be repairable,a vertical fairlure is a common problem, the vertical IC goes bad and it takes a safety resistor with him to prevent any more damage, the horizontal is rare but it happens too,if you are familiar with tv service you can change the IC but you will need a service manual to identify the part, you can get a manual overnight if you downloaded it at www.servicemanuals.net,if you are not too familiar you should seek the help of a servicer for safety reasons.Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.

I turned my television on then it made the tv frame made a noise!and now the screen is black except for this thin line across the middle of the screen which is display the picture

Most likely the vertical oscillator circuit has failed. As CRT televisions have gone the way of the dinosaur, my advice to you is to give a fond adieu and invest in a new TV.

Thin blue line on Samsung led tv screen

I don't actually see it except near the middle, this can be anything from a loose plug to a issue inside the display panel itself which is the screen unit where it cannot be go at---that is fatal if it is the case.

Might be worth having a technician look at or live with it?

Tv screen is black except for 1 horizontal line of color

The line is there because the vertical deflection unit - the one that spreads that line across the entire screen to form the image - has failed. Replacing it is a job for a professional, or at least an experienced amateur, and the parts will be quite difficult to find for such an old tv .

Screen is black except for thin line in middle of screen

The problem is in the vertical section of the main board. Bad capacitors and maybe the vertical IC. If you are not inclined to be a tech you will have to take it to a shop.. I don't know what they may charge but I normally get $69- $89

Thin horizonal line in middle on dark screen

The several thin white lines at the top of the screen is the warning that the vertical output IC is not getting the boost voltage it needs to run correctly. The IC cannot operate for long like that and shorts out inside, which is when the vertical collapses altogether and you get the thin white line through the center of the screen. The good news for your son is that he had nothing to do with that, and it has nothing to do with the cable F connector. The set needs to be serviced by an experienced tech who will restore the boost supply and replace the vertical output IC, and when I do that I charge $75 but techs in your area will vary, so be sure to ask around.
