Question about Serious Magic ULTRA (20020000E) for PC

Registration fix for Ultra 2

I own a copy of ultra 2 and cannot register it due to the fact adobe no longer supports it and will not verify the product to register automatically. is there any way around this?

Issue Activation fails when you attempt to install and launch a legacy Serious Magic product.
Reason Adobe has chosen not to renew the hosting account for the Serious Magic web site. The hosting contract expired on Nov. 3, 2008. Activation for Serious Magic products that rely on this server is no longer supported by Adobe. SolutionDo one of the following:
1. Upgrade to the latest Adobe-branded version of the product.Note: DV Rack is now Adobe OnLocation. The most recent version of Adobe Ultra was Ultra CS3. Ultra was not included in CS4, however, color keying is available in After Effects CS4. A tutorial on basic color keying is available here.
2. Download and run the Serious Magic legacy product activation tool.Instructions for SMActivate.exe:
  1. Extract the .zip file to a convenient location.
  2. Double-click SMActivate.exe. The application will display a list of Serious Magic products to be activated.
  3. Click OK.
Your product is now activated and ready to use. If no qualifying products are detected, it will display the message: "No legacy Serious Magic applications detected."
This change affects the following Serious Magic products:
  • Ultra NTSC VxxV
  • Ultra PAL XxxX
  • Ultra 2 PAL BPWB
  • Ultra 2 NTSC BNWB
  • Visual Communicator 1 Studio SxxS or TxxT
  • Visual Communicator 2.0 CxBC
  • Visual Communicator 2.0 Web CxWC
  • Visual Communicator 2.0 Pro CxPC or CxQC
  • Visual Communicator 2.0 Studio CxSC or CxTC
  • DV Rack DxxD
DV Rack Express requires a special version of the activation tool, available here. This affects the following Serious Magic product:
  • DV Rack Express FxxF
For DV Rack Express, do the following:
  1. Extract the .zip file to a convenient location
  2. Double-click SMActivate.exe
  3. Select the checkbox for DV Rack Express.
  4. Click Activate. This will create a file, smact21.db, in the C: root.
  5. Move that file to c:\program files\serious magic\dv rack express\bin
The following Serious Magic products do not use activation, or use alternative activation and are not affected:
  • DV Rack 2.0*
  • Ovation
  • VlogIt!
* DV Rack 2.0 uses activation through a third party company named Softwrap, which resides on a server that is not affected. http://www.softwrap.com/
Note: Ultra CS3 is an Adobe product and is not affected.

I am just about to upgrade from XP to windows 7 using a clean install. I cannot find my product registration code for mx 2004. I bought the download not the disk from a shop. Thanks for any advice


Go to and check your Adobe registration through support. If you downloaded the program, I sure hope you registered it! The program should have info on your product key under "help." You might have to look around a bit. It may be under help, then "about."

Even if the info is there, before you upgrade, I would still go to Adobe support and make sure that you can register and use the info provided.

I see a lot of people that can't get the activation accomplished even when they have the info.

Finally, I hope you know what you are getting into with a "clean" install over XP. It is a bit complicated. If you have never done it, take the time to check this out at Microsoft.

If you have a genuine copy of the product and registrered as part of the install process then you can get a replacement by contacting Adobe Support. I lost my CS2 key and they were very helpful.

Have Upgrade to DREAMWEAVER 4 but on install it is asking me for a serial number from a previous version, which I bought, but no longer have. What can I do?


If you registered your previous version with Adobe, you can call them. They will have record of it and can give you the codes you need. Just be patient with them when you do get through and they will help you out. Better yet, try going to the support section of their website. You can look up your previous registrations: http://www.adobe.com/support/registration.html

Adobe photoshop elements 2.0 Plus photoshop album 2.0 serial numbers


Hi there!

As i understand you has lost your serial number and are trying to install Adobe on a new PC.

Have you ever registered your product online? Do you still have the original receipt? If so, call Adobe Customer Support and they would help you.
Next you could call your distributor from whom you bought the package(frys) and ask him for the receipt number or the serial number if he has the copy.
This statement is taken from Adobe site
"If you cannot find your serial number and it is not in our registration database, Adobe can reissue your serial number in certain cases. This applies only to current shipping versions of Adobe branded or Macromedia branded products, and one version prior to the current version. Please contact Adobe Customer Service with a copy of your Proof of Purchase "
