Question about HP PhotoSmart C4280 Laser Printer

HP C4280 incorrect paper feed

I created business cards in WordPerfect and they print out fine on regular paper. As soon as I try to use card stock (standard Avery, InkJet, not overly heavy), the alignment screws up completely and the cards print at the very top of the page. I've tried feeding the stock one page at a time; card stock on top of plain paper, card stock on top of card stock.

I'm trying to print notecards, two on a page in landscape orientation.  I'm using  Pages to set up the cards.  They print perfectly on plain paper but when I put in the card stock the left margin becomes smaller than the right and the size of the images actually changes slightly.  Any advice?

My business cards will not print on any card stock... Avery, Staples, or any other. alignment is always off. The lower rows are all off to the top of the card. Same problem with labels. HP assistance was no help at all.

FYI the HP C4280 is not a laser printer it is an inkjet.

Check your printer's capability.

Buy the card stock they recommend.

If all else fails, print on plain and take card stock to a copy shop and have them do it for you.

Walking there beats going nuts over stupid software or hardware problems

SOURCE: HP Photosmart C4795. Can't get business cards to align correctly.

In printing properties and printing preferences be sure and tell the printer you're printing labels, it allows more time for the card stock to reach the starting point.

I have an HP Photosmart A646 printer that I bought in the hopes of printing to 5x7 card stock. We have pre-printed card stock that we use for gift certificates and we need to be able to feed the card stock...

Thanks for visiting FixYa!

Depending on the program you are using to print your gift certificates, try this-

1) Open the program and open the file you use for your gift certificate.
2) Click on 'Layout' then 'Page Set Up' (probably found in the top menu bar by the right side of, FILE.)
3) Select 'Landscape' and then select, 'Custom'.
4) Enter 5x7 for height and width.
5) Enter the information you need in the data field, (ie, name address, etc.)
6) Select, Print.
7) When the 'Print Manager' box opens, click on, 'Properties'.
8) Click on, 'Type' and choose, "Envelope'.
9) Click on, 'Size' and choose 5x7. - and click, OK.

Your printer should have a slide where the paper is inserted. Place one of the 5x7 cards in the slot just as you would an envelope and slide the slider until it is 'close' to the card but not directly against the card.

Click, 'Print'. The printer should recognize the card (due to its thickness) as an envelope and print it.

Started feeding business card stock incorrectly - worked previously

You may need to have a technician adjust your copier or replace the rollers.

Brother laser printer wont print on cardstock My brother printer won't feed teh card stock paper. It used to work but now it won't feed it, normal paper works fine. Even if i nudge the card stock paper,...

If there printer is not able to print on card stock then check the recommend
card stock paper thickness, if the printer works with normal paper but not card stock then there is problem in the card stock and by using this paper may also damage the rollers on the printer and make the printer useless ...

Good luck...

Hi,
I m not sure what the specification of the paper type you are using however if you are using card stock than you should use manual feed Tray and in the printer driver properties you should select paper type as Card-Stock to make sure there is no print quality issue.

My Printer works fine... except it won't feed business cards or card stock

You cant fix this because brother printers are limited to paper:
paper that weights more than 200g wont run through the paper feeder.

Only prints business cards correctly on plain paper, but not on the card stock.

I am the guy with the hp d'jet D2445. I ran out of card stock in failed attempts. Not wanting to give up I bought more (Avery, no serrations) and it worked fine. Don't ask why.

Print Garbage

The reason your pictures come out dark and grey is that you have not set the paper thickness on your printer. On the back you will see a flip switch change this setting then feed your business card sheet in there and see the diffrence. Plus make sure your settings for your printer are set for a thicker paper this will fix your problem. Make sure though when done printing your cards that you set it back to the normal or you will have problems printing regular paper documents.
