    I am using pinnacle studio 12
    After dragging my scene to the timeline i go to make movie and create file. Not only does that scene save but the programme i got the scene from saves aswell.

    Imagine thirty minutes on a timeline,trim it so your left with five minutes on the timeline,then i make movie and the thirty minutes saves not the five minutes i intended.

  • make a backup of the original captured half hour programme;
  • load that in Pinnacle;
  • trim as you require;
  • delete the scenes before the start of the trimmed section;
  • delete the scenes after the end of the trimmed section;

I have prepared a home movie on Windows Movie Maker and when I copied it to a DVD it would not play on a dvd player can anyone tell me what I did wrong please thanks joe

The reason why the DVD disk you created may not contain the file format the DVD player recognizes. On a normal DVD disk there are two folders - AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders. The video files are located in the VIDEO_TS folder. This video folder contains the VTS_xxx.vob video files (the video files has a .vob extension).
The video file you created may have a avi or wmv or mov or mpg extension, whilst these video files can be played on a computer but they won't play on a DVD player.
Check the movie software you are using and make sure it creates the correct file format for a DVD player.

Cant download videos

Even though the file may be linked to your movie player, when the movie player is trying to access the video, its simply not finding it where it is suppose to be.

I'm not sure how your downloading convention is, but how I do things is when I get an attachement, picture, or video... I usually almost always Right-click on it once and do a Save As... Then I'll specify a folder to save it into (usually easiest saving it to the Desktop and create a folder there, example: Movies) and hit Ok.

I'm not sure if you're opening these movies directly from your source and its streaming and not downloaded OR if you did download them, it is not finding the files in the designated space that Windows Media Player is trying to find it in. Like when you may put a screwdriver on the shelf versus the drawer... when you go back to find the screwdriver and look in the drawer (where you've always put it) its not there.

As far as opening files, it may be that you need a certain codec to open up that particular file. I find that most videos accessed online need the DivX codec that you can download for free from the divx website. Remember to look for the codec itself and not the player. Be sure to read all the install screens and only select the things you need instead of hitting OK on all the screens.

If you don't remember where you put those downloaded movies, I would do a search of the files and folers on the hard drive. Especially if you remember what the file name was called, that'll help immensely. Simply press on the Start > Search, and then put in the file name.

Although some DVD-ripping apps, like autoMKV, can bypass copy protection, they are not updated as frequently and aren't always successful at defeating new copy protection schemes. Your best choice , therefore, is to top one of the utilities that are dedicated to the task, such as Daniusoft DVD Ripper.

Attention:
Before you begin to use these software, you need to pay attention below items:
1. Understand copyright laws in your country before ripping any copyrighted DVDs.
2. Do not promote or partake in piracy. Although there is some dubiety over whether it is legal to copy DVDs for your own use, making copyrighted DVDs available in the public realm is against the law.
3. Understand that in the US the laws are unclear and conflicting, you might be able to rip a copy of copyrighted material for your own use under the concept of Fair Use. However, circumventing DRM may be illegal in and of itself, regardless of ownership of the IP or intent after disabling the DRM method. Read up on the DMCA and then contact your congressman!

Stand alone vb programme

yaa you can use the Setup Wizard from your VB for your project. It will make a setup for your project and will put all the runtime required files in a same folder, with your project executable with a setup.exe file. Copy all these files in any device like CD,DVD, Flash memo etc, in a same folder. And run this setup on any computer to which you want to install it.

Then your project will run on that computer.
