Question about MicroNet Technology Titanium (TFDU16072A) Hard Drive

Fantom Drive TFDU16072A Error

I have a 160GB USB 2.0 hardrive from Fantom Drives, bought on 9/30/06. It was working fine till recently when it stopped working. When I connect the hard drive to my USB port, and click on new hardware, it shows a external drive connected, but I cannot see the hard drive on "My Computer". I tried using Device Manager but it does not show up there too. I have tried this with all my USB ports. I have a Windows XP 2002 SP 2. I tried connecting to an old Windows 2000 laptop also but got the same problem.

    All of a sudden My computer does not "see" the external hard drive. Also the hard drive gives off a clicking sound when turned on. It seems to go away after a while but I can no longer access the data stored on the drive.

    Same drive, same problem - I've had it for a week, all of a sudden it is not accessible on Windows or Mac. Drive revs up, blue light shows, but no response from the computer. All USB ports work perfectly...

    I had purchased the fantom external hard drive about a year and half ago - I have all my file stored on the drive, recently when I turned the switch on the drive does not respond (e.g no light turns on / disk vibration).

    I'm working in XP as well and my Fantom External drive has been working fine for a year. I've checked the USB ports. The connections are all good, but the device no longer shows up under MY COMPUTER and I can't back up anything. Any help would be appreciated.

2009 06 30 - I just had a similar problem. The Fantom external drive was working fine, but I had to shut down due to a thunderstorm. When I restarted the PC, the drive was not showing up. WHAT I FOUND: First, I didn't find this solution anywhere - everything seemed to point to a new install (or at least how to reformat and start over.) BUT, I right clicked on Computer, Manage, Disk Management - it still didn't show. On the right, under More Actions, I clicked 'rescan disks'. Now it shows up! And all of my data is right there. Whew!

Try to plug the external hard drive to a different port. if its not working try to use other usb device like ipod, or thumb drive and if the other usb device works it means the problem is the external hard drive it self. If the problem still the same the problem is the usb ports probably the motherbaord

When i turn on my fantom green drive the green light keeps flashing

If the light turns on (mine was blue) but the drive is not recognized on your computer desktop that most likely means the drive does not have enough power. This happened to me too, and I took it to a computer expert and he said the drive was not even spinning. So it was either the external power source that broke or the internal power source, the power panel that broke. I took it to a batter plus and tested the wattage for the external power source and it was okay so then i took the entire drive apart and disconnected the naked hard drive from the power panel. Then I purchased "SATA to USB" cables (runs around 10-20 bucks) and connected the naked hard drive that way to the computer and it worked. So the problem is basically that the internal power panel is not working, and i had 2 fantom drives that both had this problem and they both worked after i did what i just said.. so I think your drive has the same problem since the light comes on but the drive is not spinning. Take it apart, buy some SATA to USB cables and it should work.

then connect your harddisk then it found.

yes you can but whether that would make it work or not is a different story.

It depends if the hard drive is still working or not however it would test for certain whether it is working or not.

Fantom 120 GB harddrive stopped working

My problem and my solution
-Fantom Drives 200GB was working correct on desktop which runs Windows XP
-Connected it to a laptop which runs Vista and the drive became undecteable by both platforms. It showed up on Vista's device manager for a hot second and then vanished all together.
-Changed the USB cable and still no go
-Finally, I made the decision to void the warranty by opening it and connecting it directly to my CPU and there it all was. 170GB worth of data. Same as what scott201201 is suggesting above.
-Moral of this story...."Backup your "backup".

Advise. Please make sure to read the warranty on your product you may be able to send it back to the company if it is under waranty. I read on another blog that the miniboard in the case where the usb connects to the device was faulty and needed repair. I know this is the same with mine because it works perfection when connected directly to the desktop.

The device driver is causing a conflict with the system. If you have got any specific cd with hardrive install the driver from the cd. Otherwise , i would suggest try changing he manufacturer of the hdd and get a new one. If you have recently bought it.
Otherwise try creating a new account in windows vista on your computer and then try plugging in the drive

Dear Enryc2 I don't know if you have found a solution already but this is what I tried. If this is your bootup drive, disconnect all other drives, eg., CDRom/DvDRW, FDD, USB drives and try to bootup. You may also try to update your BIOS(only if you know how to).
