Cant get "into" my computer.

I have a Toshiba Satellite a105 laptop. I rebooted my laptop. When it came back on, it asked for a password, which it has never done before ( I'm the only owner/ had it almost 3 years) I never set a password. I cant get past this one screen. There is only a place for the password and a button to click to shut down computer. NOTHING else is on the page. Can you help?

Try run your system in SAFE MODE by pressing F8 repeatedly on boot up screen... while your in safe mode try open the ADMINISTRATOR user account... then remove the password of the user account you used... then reboot the system...

Is it as the windows login screen or is it some other screen like for a bios password.

If its a BIOS password, you will most likely have to call the manufacturer and prove its yours and not stolen and have them give you a master password, or use the Original CD to do a recovery and remove it if possible.

Alot depends on the make, model and type of passwords your talking about.

If the drivers aren't loaded, it won't work properly.
Please check your model number as I cannot find it on Toshiba's database.

Try www.computers.toshiba-europe.com and let Toshiba detect your model.
Toshibe supports most models.

Trying to reboot toshiba satellite a105 s1014 but it is asking for a password

Hello there...

I've been experiencing this similar problem once and toshiba replace my motherboard because they cannot solve the problem.

And I really hope that I am wrong. But, this problem is actually a known BIOS problem in some version of BIOS which is fixed in the latest BIOS update release Version 2.30.

See this quoted from toshiba tech support website:
Change History
Version 2.30 - 2008-10-10
  • Corrected: A BIOS password may be set automatically (spontaneously) by the computer.
  • Corrected: The internal keyboard repeat speed can not be changed.

See if you can claim this to toshiba, because it is actually BIOS bug.

Hope this helps... :D

There was a hardware failure / problem on your laptop. If I'm not mistaken it's probably on the Memory Module.

Thanks,
