Try changing the networking setting from automatic to GSM. Depending on which carrier you're using, the phone sometimes refuses to pick up a connection if it can't get a 3G compliant signal. When it's looking for just G, it gets service just fine. I've been having this problem and switching off 3G has been the only way to fix it.

You got corrupted phone software that is why your phone won't boot up. The best thing here to do is take out the memory card of your phone. Power on your phone without the card. Now if the booting is successful. format the memory card using a card reader and place it back to your phone after doing it.
Can you hear it ring when u try to call ur number using a different phone? If yes, maybe it isn't aligned properly or check the connector. If no, the software is crashed, it needs a software reflash/reprogram
The best thing I can do for you is to refer you to the free
palm chat. For the palm phones I have to know what service provider you use to
be able to get you to the correct link. So here is a link to palm support for
your phone. Click on the icon for your service provider (Rodgers, AT & T or
Palm) From there you want to click on the words “support services” at
the top of the page. If you have selected AT&T on the previous page you
will be able to do a palm chat. The link for the free chat is located in about
the middle of the page. If you have any other provider besides AT&T you
have the option to start a repair ticket or if it is under warranty there is a
number to call. Best wishes…I hope this will help you.
My phone did this today....i look up answers and saw yours..i later called my phone from my home phone and it seems to be working fine as of now, don't have that popping up every minute...once open you will be able to delete the hot sync application. I didn't delete mine yet, I was going to wait it out and see if it starts again. Hope I helped.

I used to have this sort of issue with a Palm pilot. It is most likely that a piece of grit or dirt from your pocket has embedded itself between the touch screen and the housing.
This can be fixed by pulling appart your phone however that will void any warranty that you have. If it is still under warranty, return it to the place of purchase and get them to fix it.
