Question about Kenmore 24 in. 16032 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Vibrating noise After staring the machine and after the initial fill the dishwasher makes a very loud vibrating noise, rattling hum maybe. I can't see where anything is touching the outside of the machine or does it seem to be poorly loaded. Any ideas

My dishwasher started having a very loud grinding/vibrating noise a few minutes after it is started on the smartwash setting. When you open it there is water in it, and it seems to drain ok after the cycle is cancelled. My husband broke some glasses a few days ago and he said that some glass probably went in the dishwasher. Could it be stopping up something? What can I do?

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

Sudden loud vibration from the door of my Whirlpool dishwasher. Replacing the part didn't help.

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Drain Pump If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain pump might be defective or might have some debris in it. This is a common problem.
Circulation Pump If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the circulation pump sound, it's likely that the circulation pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the circulation pump will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Drain Impeller If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain impeller might be broken, or there might be debris in the pump. Generally, to gain access to the pump the top of the pump housing will have to be removed.

Pump and Motor Assembly If the dishwasher is loud the motor bearings, drain impeller or wash impeller might have worn out. All three of these components are part of the pump and motor assembly. It may be possible to replace one of the impellers, but the motor bearings cannot be repaired. In that case the pump and motor assembly will need to be replaced.

Wash Impeller The wash impeller is a small, plastic blade. The motor spins the impeller forcing water through the spray arms to clean the dishes. If one or more blades has broken off of the impeller the dishwasher is loud. The impeller can also scrape against the pump housing if it is damaged, warped or bent.

Circulation and Drain Pump Motor If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the motor sound, it's likely that the circulation and drain pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the motor will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Water Inlet Valve The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled water valve. When it is new, the water inlet valve is very quiet. Over time, the diaphragm inside the valve deteriorates and deforms. This deformation interacts with the water rushing in and can cause a loud vibration, buzzing, squealing or other noises. If the dishwasher is loud during the filling cycle, replacing the water inlet valve may solve the problem.

Water hammer makes a loud vibrating noise when filling

Hey- most hammer is removed by simply replacing the water valve. Have solved this way many times. Exceptions required spring suppressors on lines to faucets. Valves run about 40-60$ and are easy to install. Let me know if this info helps- have more if needed- Thanks- Ed

The dishwasher works very loudly. It cleans the dishes very well, just the noise is extremely loud.

Hi,

Though Noise depends on the model and make of the machine, still you can use the below methods to minimize the noise :-

  1. Ensure the dishwasher is level. An unleveled machine can cause unwanted vibration noise in addition to dish rattling. Most appliances have leveling feet that adjust to ensure that the appliance is level. Ensure the machine is level. If you can't access the feet, call a professional.
  2. Install insulation around the dishwasher. A sound-absorbing foam can diminish dishwasher noise level. Unless you are familiar with how to remove or install dishwashers, have a professional perform this task.
  3. Load dishes securely. One sure fire way to cut down on dishwasher noise is to load the dishes properly. Cups, saucers and other items that aren't properly placed in the dishwasher can toss about by the jet streams of water. Put small items in a dishwasher approved, screened container to prevent them from getting caught in the dishwasher's cleaning mechanisms.
  4. Purchase a quiet dishwasher. Some manufacturers make dishwashers with built-in noise reduction features. Research and read reviews for each to determine which one works best in your situation. Magazines like "Consumer Reports" provide unbiased reviews that can be helpful.
Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Loud Humming noise every time we run the dishwasher

Hi, I had this exact same problem. In my situation it turned out to be the pump that pumps out all of the used water. It was rubbing up against the floor so that every time it turned on it made a loud vibrating sound. I just reached under the washer and put a piece of rubber between it and the floor and it solved the problem.

good luck!

I saw this post because I am considering buying the same model you have. Other than the noise problem you have, what do you think of it?

Loud humming noise when dishwasher is filling up with water

your model is pretty new. just so you know your warrenty is 1 year parts and labor. 2 years on parts. it should not cost that much money.

there are two components that start before the circulation pump.(wash noise you hear)

first sounds you hear will be the drain pump. usually rattling noises if something is in it but it can make a hum noise if something is jamming the drain propeller up. which is accessible with a T20 torx driver. take the filters out and the mesh filter. and unscrew the screw in the base towards the left. pull out whatever is lodged.

the other humming sound can come from the next component that activates is the watervalve. make sure you dont have a kinked water intake line. otherwise its a bad valve. i have had to change a few of those water valves out already but not for a hum noise on your model. you have a new style water valve. when brands make new parts we get problems fast sometimes..

Loud rattling grinding noise when pump is running, no water enters the machine.

Make sure the water is turned on to the machine, if it is then it sounds like a faulty water fill valve, just replace the fill valve, they can sometimes be cleaned but I would never trust one, they can always stick in the on position later and flood your house. Check to see if the valve is geting 120v ac before replaceing the valve, if it's getting voltage and no water is flowing then the valve is bad. You will need to borrow or buy a multi-meter for this test.

Loud vibrating/humming noise

Okay...based on the model number, this is a Frigidaire manufactured dishwasher. If you go to searspartsdirect.com and type in the your model number in the Search menu, you will find a useful illustration under the "Motor and Pump" heading. The drain pump is listed as item #60 in the drawing. Before you go through any major dis-assembly, check to make sure the pump is securely in place and not loose. Sometimes the pump comes loose from the mounting bracket and vibrates. Also, sure nothing is laying against it causing vibration noises (I've seen this before). If the solution is not that simple, remove the spray arm assembly inside the dishwasher and inspect all the debris traps under the spray arm assembly. The wash pump and drain pump sumps are located here. Check to make sure there's nothing obstructing the input to the drain pump. Lastly, if all else fails, remove the drain pump and inspect the impeller. If the you've inspected everything and still have the noise problem, replace the drain pump. The motor could possible be failing. The part number on the Sears website is 154580301 and costs about $40. Repairclinic.com has the same part listed as item #1257094 for $37.50 if you wish to do some comparable pricing.

I hope this helps you. If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know.

PS Even the quietest of all dishwashers will make some noise. However, if it has gotten to the point where you can hear it in the next room, you probably need to inspect to find the source of the problem. This is not true with all dishwasher manufacturers, but in many cases, the only difference between your "Quiet-Pack" line and regular low-end models is added insulation behind the door and lower panel to help quieten noise.
