Sounds like a clogged print head. In the lexmark printer software there should be a maintenance tool where you can try and clean the print heads.
By the same token the X83 is about 10 years old and well past the life cycle of most ink jet printers so if the troubleshooting tools don't get it back in order, it will be cheaper to replace than to repair.
Here are some articles on rear door paper jam on Lexmark X646e printer. Just click on these links: http://bit.ly/blkK1m ("202 Paper Jam" Message on a Lexmark X642e, X642e or X644e Multifunction Printer) and this link: http://bit.ly/awNDER (A 202.xx (x = any number) Paper Jam Message Is Appearing on a Lexmark X64x Series Printer). These are some guidelines on how to resolve the rear door paper jam on your printer. If you need more assistance, don't hesitate to contact Lexmark Technical Support. Thanks.
behind the printer there is the tray that can be opened easily to check if the printer is jammed in or the paper feed sensor is stuck up.just open the back tray of your printer and check.
get back if you require more assistance on this.
I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy
paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print
button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it
will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I
have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this
way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps.Bud
Hi gerby, need to eliminate a few issues to get to the cause. First, check for a jam. Paper jams can be so tiny you can barely notice them. Use a torch and check thoroughly down back of unit in paper feeder, open cover, let cartridge carriage roll left and settle. Now look inside thoroughly too. If no jam, check rollers are even and look same on each side. Post back if no good.
