I have a kodak easyshare c195. when i set the time and date imprint although it shows on the camera when i upload the pictures to my computer the imprint is not there. I need this imprint for work.

How do I get the date printed on my photo?

I'm sorry, but very likely you can't. The thing is, this was a useful feature on film photos, but the concept has been overtaken by technology, and is no longer relevant. Heh - you probably disagree with me, so let me explain that fully! When you take a photo with a digital camera, the current date and time are automatically stored in the photo file. In some cameras, it will be the same as the file date. Some cameras date the file with the date of download rather than the date of capture, but the date inside the file will always be the capture date. The date of capture is one of the items of EXIF data. You can read about this 'metadata' on wikipedia.

So how does EXIF data fulfill the benefits of the old 'print on film' date? From the point of view of indexing your library and simply not forgetting when the photo was taken, the EXIF data should always be present in the file, unless you choose to erase it. Thus, you will never lose track of the date of capture; if you have the image, you have the date. You can read the date with many tools, and in fact even Windows explorer will tell you the date if you simply hover over the picture. Here's an example; the bubble help shows the time of capture where the picture was taken, (windows shows me the time of capture in my own time zone).

What about legal proof of something? Sorry, you can't really do that any more. You couldn't have done it if you'd printed it on the image, either; it's just too easy to fake. The date of capture is editable, so it doesn't prove anything. If you need proof, get legal advice... in the heat of the moment, include a cellphone in-frame showing the date and time; you could fake that too, but it would be much harder.

Oh, you wanted your dates printed on physical pictures? Find a print shop that will print the EXIF capture date on the reverse of your photo; that way the face of your picture won't be spoiled. There is software that will print index sheets of your images and list their capture dates and times, too.

Hi,

You may not be able to copy the videos other than the one captured in the Camera, as the Camera file system will not accept the file format of other video recordings. The File error message displays when you try to copy or edit the files in the Memory Stick. This may cause all the other images to be corrupted. I suggest that you do not copy the files to Memory Stick which will damage the images already captured in the Camera.
The Camera will not accept the files even if the file names are different as the Camera creates its own file name for videos recorded in it. You may try copying the videos to the folder in the Camera where the movies are recorded with the same file name of the videos. However, this is not recommended.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I have a Samsung SC-D381 Digital Video Camcorder that I would like to tansfer recorded video from to a PC. I bought the IEEE 1394 PC card with the FireWire 6/4 pin cable. I don't know what to do next. ...

You'll need a software able to capture and edit video. Your footage is on tape, right? First, you must have a firewire port on your pc, with the cam properly connected to. Then, all you have to do is make use of a program like Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas, or even the Windows Movie Makes, and find the capture window/mode/whatever, which will show you a console with play-pause-stop-rew-ff-rec buttons and a little monitor, to see where on the tape you are. Once on the capture console, you'll rewind the tape to the beginning of your footage and press rec ON THE CONSOLE, not on the camera. The software should ask you for a place to save the file and that's all.

Basically I used psremote to create a viewfinder on the screen and den use Softcam as a virtual video capture device to capture the image on the "viewfinder".

I tried and tested on MSN and it works.

Use of digital camera Lumix DMC-LS70 as a web cam.

Hello,
It will not work through USB like a standard webcam. Ls-70 only lets you access camera memory card/onboard memory when connected via USB.
However you could connect the camera video-out socket to a PC with graphics card with video capture function. Some cards with video capture work with skype (check this URL:
http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=41101 )
There are also various software solutions which can fool your webchat client into thinking that video capture stream is actually an output of a usb webcam. (Try google for "video capture into skype".
At the moment this seems to be the only easy way to use LS-70 as webcam.

Good luck,

Raf

Old camcorder to computer file is it possible.

hey and thanks for the reply! i did find a solution to my problem after many hours of searching. i tried loging into my roxio thingy where you can make your own movie type deal and after fooling around with the pictures and videos i had already chose for my movie, i then created it and saved it to my file. after all that **** i was browsing around and found in the menu to the left videos. so i clicked on it and another list of options dealing with videos popped up. i then read one that said capture videos. capturing from the camcorder to the pc. so i clicked on that number and plugged in my old as hell camcorder to the pc i have wich is an hp pavillion home media center m8020n running with vista compatable and wallah i was able to capture all the old vhs recordings to the pc and into my files labled videos. so thanks for everything and spread the word if anyone running this type of set up that the old can work on this peice of equipment.
