RCA HD56W66 Power Issue

I read from a post that you fix about 10 of these RCA HD56W66 projection tv's a week. I am having a problem with mine where it won't turn on. I plug it in, the green light comes on and I can hear the tv starting to turn on, and then after about 2 seconds it shuts back off and won't turn on again until I unplug it and plug it back in, and then it does the same thing. I am a former military electronics tech turned civilian geek (network/system admin) so with the proper manual/instruction I can fix about anything, I just have no manual or schematics for this. The nearest repair shop for me can't make it down to me until New Years Eve and that's just to do an initial diagnostic, not even to necessarily fix it. Is this something you have seen before and do you have any suggestions for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeremiah

My 53 inch RCA is giving me a high voltage static (think it's called an arc?) and I saw it flashing, then a little smoke. If I wait 2 minutes it will repeat this process. Any ideas?

Repairman came, did a complete overhaul. Our initial problem was the curved picture with red blue and green lines and blurry. Once he worked on this, something happened to the module. I am very upset about this but apparently RCA is just not a good tv. We paid a pretty penny for this about 3 years ago so this is so upsetting. I am resolved to just upgrading although we really can't afford it because the module apparently will be $200-$400 dollars.

You hear what? is this sound a high voltage static? The fact that you have flashing light means the main fuse is good and your processor is receving power. THe processor is detecting a shutdown situation that causing it to shut down for safety. high voltage situations are the primary causes. but it can be one of about 20 conditions. at the shop we have a computer that reads error codes much like a autombile. the primary things to check for are a shorted horizontal output transisitor. if you hear a high voltage static then it means you tubes are trying to fire but are drawing to much current.

Distorted Screen for RCA HD56w66

convergence is the problem. first question do you have convergence in the customer setup menu. if you do not it could be a special small fuse if you do have "convergence" in the setup menu then you most likely have a convergence power board issue. and generally they are replaced. in our shop such board replacement average 124 labor and about 100 for part. if the fuse bout 15 for part and 80 for labor. there are solder connection that cause the blown fuse
