Re: Zen middle side buttons not opening Music Library or...
If pressing the Reset button doesn't work, you should probably try
reloading the firmware (this would be a good time to update your
firmware anyways). You can get the latest firmware off the Creative
site under "Support". Just be sure you select the right player, as
there are several on the list that look similar.

1Populate your library. To get music from your computer to your Walkman, first make sure the music in your library is properly formatted. The easiest method is to load all of your music into the Windows Media Player library. Open the Windows Media Player and under the "Library" tab choose "Add to Library." A dialog box will open asking what files on your computer you wish to scan for music files. Make your selections and click "OK." Media Player will begin pulling music files into the library.
2Import CDs. If the music you wish to upload to your Walkman resides on CDs you will need to import those into your library as well. Clicking on the "More Options" menu under the "Library" tab then choose "Rip Music." Follow the wizard and import all the music you need from your CD collection.
3Connect the Walkman device to the PC. Your Sony Walkman should have come with a USB cable. Simply attach the cable to your Walkman and to your PC, then allow the computer to automatically install any necessary device drivers. If your PC is unable to automatically install the drivers, you may wish to install the disc provided with your Walkman. After the installation has occurred, you will notice that your device is now visible in your Media Player navigation menu.
4Open your library. Highlight the library function on the navigation menu and double-click on the organization style you wish to employ. This can be by song, artist, album or genre. Then begin perusing your library for music you wish to add to your MP3 player.
5Drag-and-drop music selections. When you find a song you wish to upload, click on the song, hold down the button and drag the title to the Sync List on the right side of your screen. Continue this process until you have chosen all the music you want to add.
6Sync your device. Click on the "Start Sync" button in the lower right side of the screen to start the transfer process.

A little known feature on this player is the ability to use bookmarks, up to 10 of them. Many of you listen to podcasts or audio books which may be fairly lengthy and if you have to stop in the middle of what ever you're listening to, normally when you go back to your player you would have to start all over again.<br /><br />A note about <span style="font-style: italic;">"resuming playback":</span> If you shutdown during playback of a podcast or audio book (not pausing or stopping playback first) your Zen will automatically resume playback when you start it back up.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Zen V Plus Bookmarking</span><br /><br />You can insert bookmarks during playback. <li>Select Clear Bookmark.<br /></li></ol><span style="font-weight: bold;">To go to a bookmark:</span><br />
<li>1. Press and hold the Menu/Back button. The main menu appears.</li>

<li>3. Select the bookmark that you want.</li></ol>Note: The Bookmark feature is not applicable for contents played from the memory card for players such as ZEN 2GB,4GB,8GB,16GB, 32GB and the ZEN X-Fi Series. ZEN Xtra also supports bookmarks though you cannot place two or more bookmarks for one song or audio book<br /><br />
For Creative Vision M: While playing the book or song click on the bottom right button, ->= ,to set a bookmark at the current location. Then use bottom left button, <- ,to go to the top level menu and select System->Player Settings->My Shortcut Button->Jump to:->Bookmarks. After setting the short cut button to jump to bookmarks, you can then go to a previously set bookmark at any time.
When you open Windows Media Player, as long as the computer recognizes your Mp3 player, you should see an icon of the Mp3 player on the lower left hand side of the "Library" tab - click once on the plus sign next to this icon to expand a list of folders - "Songs" and "Albums" should be among the options.
Turn off your player. Push in the reset and turn it on. You should get the reboot menu. Click on CLEAN. If it doesn't work, then REFORMAT after backing up your data. You can also reget the firmware from Zen website.
