You have a dead short to ground on that circuit ! Passenger seat ? Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? How to test for a short to ground ? Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on body & accessories , then under subsystem click on power seat . Click the search button then the blue link . Somewhere between the fuse box an the power seat connector that wire is touching ground ( metal on the vehicle body ) . Videos on youtube showing how to find short .
So does it have power to go up and down. May have a stuck motor or it's bad. May need to remove the seat and bench test the seat motors. Replacement may be needed
The seat connects to the body control module, not directly to the buttons. You can get a diagram in a manual that can be bought from an auto parts store.
Problem Solved !!! I traced every wire, Bought manuals, Ended up buying a passenger seat wiring harness and removed driver memory control module plus harness. Installed new passenger harness and it works great ! You need VIN# when ordering part, Order number is slightly different then number on wire harness but when it came in numbers matched. CHECK POWER SEAT FUSE.IF FUSE OKAY.CHECK FOR POWER AT SEAT SWITCH IF YES.HOT WIRE POWER SEAT MOTOR STILL DONT WORK. POWER SEAT MOTOR FAULTY.NO POWER TO SWITCH AND FUSE GOOD CHECK FOR A OPEN OR BROKE WIRE FROM THE FUSE BOX TO THE POWER SEAT SWITCH.
Check the connectors to the seat motor . They are usually a main attraction for corrosion. If corrosion not an issue use a voltmeter and check for B+ at this connection. If B+ is not here fabricate a set of jumper wires and jump them from battery to seat motor and see if motor works. Now jump them to seat switch.Whatever item the seat doesn't work by this jumping / bypassing procedure is your culprit. If after jumping the seats work, then go to the go to relay for B+, If not there go to fuse or power source ( use shop manual) keep me posted. Items of concern Connectors , motor, switch, relay, fuse. wiring in circuit.
Your power seat can not be adjusted manually, if the motor in the seat is bad then yes you will have to replace it. Go to the motor under the seat and unplug it, test the wiring harness end of the connection for power with a meter, while operating the seat position, if you get power then the motor is bad, if you do not then you need to check the wires and fuses that supply that power, and the switch. Hope this helps, let me know
