    @dinovoid

Hi, your solution worked for Log-in error 81003004. Although the default "internet connection" from my downlist was "dial-up", i changed it to the current internet connection I am using. And it worked.

IMO,Some who just installed Yahoo Messenger 9 encounter this problem.

Anyways, thank you so much for the help.

As far as wat i did to my YM.

i simply checked the connection preferences and turned

"Connect via a proxy server."

then select

"HTTP proxy"

after that take a look at your internet connection dropdown list..

some mistakes are seen here.. instead of having the "broadband" connection selected the "dial-up" connection was chosen by YM itself..

hope that helps ya ^^

1st sorry 4 my poor English.
if you have problem to sigin Yahoo Messenger(YM) . 1st you check the internet explore(IE)is working correctly. most of the time it don't work. (but Firefox,chrome,Gtalk,etc..etc.. are works correctly)
so go to IE ->Tools->Internet options->Connections->LAN Settings-> Check Automatically Detect settings and uncheck other options. (See screen shot below)
Now IE and YM will work fine....

Firstly; this error occurs when your connection preferences are not properly set. I'm not talking about your Yahoo! ID and Password here, but you may need to adjust certain features depending on what network you're on. If a firewall protects your network, it may block yahoo messenger when it tries to connect to the server. You need to change your connection settings, click the Messenger menu in yahoo messenger and select Connection Preferences. Select Firewall With No Proxies. Select your Internet Connection type from the pull-down menu at the bottom and enter your Home Country if the adoptions aren’t grayed out. Click OK and login again using the new settings. If this option doesn’t work, click Connection Preferences in Yahoo! Messenger again and select No Network Detection. Try to login again using the new settings. In some instances, you may need to provide yahoo messenger with the IP address of your firewall or proxy server (you can get this information from your network administrator or from your Internet service provider). Click Messenger and select Connection Preferences again. Select Use Proxies. Enable either the HTTP Proxy or the SOCKS Proxy as needed and provide the proper address. Click OK and login again using the new settings.Secondly; if you are using IM9 there are sign in problems. This is what yahoo has to say. Try an updated version of Yahoo! Messenger 9.0(9.0.0.2128). This latest build includes a fix for the sign-in issues that have been affecting some users. If you were seeing an error code“81003005” when trying to sign in, this latest version may fix that problem. Even if you were experiencing a different kind of sign-in issue, I recommend installing this latest version.Hope it was helpful!

Hmmm... I had the same error last night (81003004). I'm not sure what caused it. I though at first it was a problem with our network. I'm still not sure though. The only thing I remember doing before the error is changing my default browser from IE to Chrome. After which when my YM got disconnected (which happens quite often due to my network connection), my YM could not reconnect again. I now have connection again. I'm not sure if this is the solution but what I did is just clicked on "Sign-In Problems"which redirected me to yahoo help page. I then selected the "My account have been compromised"... ans so on... and so fort. And that did it for me... ummm, i think?? ^_^

Try each of these in turn
1) Start with a clean browser
Download 'ccleaner' and run it through a couple of times, using the factory settings and the 'Run Cleaner' control until 0 bytes are seen to be cleaned following a scan
Run the 'Registry' from the left hand toolbar but 'Save' any changes after opting to 'repair' errors.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
2) On the sign in page click 'Messenger' > Conection
Toggle between 'Connect direct to the internet' and 'Proxy setting' make sure the information is correct in the lower 2 boxes
3) Check these settings in IE (even if you have another browser set as default)
a) Tools > Internet options > Connections > Lan settings > check 'Automatically detect settings - uncheck other options
b) Tools > work offline - make sure this is NOT checked and has a red X through it
4) Disable your firewall and do a trial sign in
5) Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings-uncheck Proxy server and check automatically detect setting
Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > dial-up and virtual private Network setting > select your default connection > setting > check automatically detect setting

When I try to login to yahoo messenger I get error 81003004

hi,
Follow these methods:-
First method:
1. go to messenger menu
2. select connection preference/ preference
3. the tab will automatic select connection preference, if it doesn’t, select it manual.
4. change your internet conection type, for my problem i choose broadband(DSL/Cable).

Second Method
For me, it was because I had set a localhost (127.0.0.1) proxy in Internet Explorer for anti-filtering purposes, thru which Y! Messenger was trying to connect. So I had to remove it to get it done.
just go to:
Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections (tab) > Lan Settings (button)
then uncheck the Proxy server checkbox.

Thanks!
