The message that I'm receiving is "Paper Mismatch" ...Paper detected does not match paper size or type selected. The problem is that I have not changed anything. I have double check all the setting and they are still at 8 1/2 X 11.

Your printer comes with software used by the computer to control how it prints. Open the printer software and then select print setup. Under that screen somewhere there is paper size selection. Make sure it is set to whatever size paper you have in the printer (i.e., 8-1/2" x 11", etc.). All it is is a size paper mismatch. The computer is trying to tell the printer to print on one size of paper and the printer is saying it can because it has a different size of paper in it.
Paper mismatch errors occur because the product scans the width of the envelope before printing. If the paper size setting in the printer driver does not match the paper actually loaded in the product, the product reports a 'Paper Mismatch' error.
The message saves paper and ink by preventing print jobs from accidentally printing on the wrong paper. For example, the print job might be for a 101.6 x 152.4 mm (4 x 6 inch) photo, but there is letter-size paper loaded in the product. The error message displays to make sure that ink is not wasted on the wrong paper type.
try this out , disable the automatic paper type sensor.
Open the Print dialog box.
In Word 2003, click File , and then click Print
In Word 2007, click the Office button ( ), and then click Print .
Make sure that your product is in the Name drop-down list box, and then clickProperties .
Click the Features or Paper/Quality tab.
In the Paper type drop-down list, click Plain paper .
Ignore the error and continue printing. The print job might still be acceptable even if the paper size and paper type settings are not an exact match.
Press Enter on the control panel to clear the error message.
Try the print job again.
If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
If the issue persists , continue to the next solution.

Paper mismatch errors occur because the printer scans the width of the paper before printing. If the paper size setting in the printer driver does not match the paper actually loaded in the printer, the printer reports a 'Paper Mismatch' or 'Paper too Narrow ' error. The error message might also display when you load the correct paper, just reinstall the printer driver if above procedure does not helps.

Paper mismatch errors occur because the printer scans the width of the envelope before printing. If the paper size setting in the printer driver does not match the paper actually loaded in the printer, the printer reports a 'Paper size error'.
Try to adjust the printer and envolopee settings..
34 Incorrect Media message appears if the printer has detected a mismatch between the type of media requested by the user and the type of media actually loaded in the paper tray.
To attempt a resolution for this issue, please do the following:
Press the green GO button on the printer operator panel. Printing will resume, but the printer must go through a POR (Power On Reset) in order to clear the message. NOTE: The printer does not automatically reprint the page that generated the error message.
Using the printer operator panel, verify that the type of media loaded in the paper tray matches the Paper Type setting in the Paper Menu. Detailed instructions for navigating through the printer menus and changing the media type setting are provided in the C510 User's Guide.
If the media type setting is incorrect and cannot be changed, there may be an issue with the media type sensor. Proceed to step 5.
Using the printer's operator panel, verify that the paper loaded in the paper tray is the size listed under Paper Size in the Paper Menu. Detailed instructions for navigating through the printer menus and changing the paper size setting are provided in the C510 User's Guide.
If the papersize changes to an incorrect setting or cannot be changed, it is likely that the paper size guides in either the 250-sheet or the 530-sheet paper tray are not set correctly. Remove the media from the tray and verify the location of the media guides.
Power the printer off and then back on again.
Resend the print job to the printer.
If the error persists, you will need to contact Lexmark Technical Support for assistance. Please obtain the printer serial number before contacting Lexmark. If possible, call from near the printer as this will allow for the most accurate possible diagnosis.
