Re: Door will not open (no tension on botton)

This is usually a broken door opening lever behind the door open button. Sometimes it is a broken tab on the door opening button. It will require visual inspection to tell. Since this is a counter top model, the outer cover / wrapper will have to be removed to get to the door opening parts. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety and disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: You can order parts at one of these sites:

Broken Neff microwave hook for tension spring on door. Can I reconnect spring to metal frame or will there be too much tension?

If you very carefully prise off the inner trim of the door you should be able to see where the lug broke that was originally holding the screen. Use a small cable tie to fix one end of the spring to one a the angle pieces of metal around where the window is, about the same level (make sure the other end of the spring is on the hook assembly). You can secure the cable tie and adjust how tight you pull it to get to roughly the same tension it would be if still on the original lug. Cut off the excess of the tie and clip the frame back in position. Door should open and close now.
Hope this helps

The oven does not start

One of the interlock switches is defective or out of adjustment. By pressing the door release you were causing the switches to make or break briefly enough to allow the oven to turn on.

KEMS378GSS3 Door has lost tension

Please find the diagramatic presentation for the replacement or removal of the door.$FILE/4317430.pdf

Do not be worried about the model if its exactly not the same as the basic removal process is 99% similar.

Door won't open

Chances are the rear of the door button and/or the face of the door open lever is worn enough that it will not actuate properly.

On a counter top model, the outer cover will need to be removed to diagnose and repair this. On an over-the-range model, only the control panel needs to be removed.

Please unplug the oven first.

If you or someone you know wants to look into this, we have critical safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

Once it is apart, you'll be able to see how the door open button would press against the door open lever, which would then lift up against the door latch heads (hook-like projections on the door) and the door should open.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Panasonic microwave door is stuck. The door is not opening

If you push in on the open door button and it just goes in and does not open the door, then the problem is that the plastic piece that actually opens the door has broken. You can verify this by removing the cover from the microwave and look inside. If you are handy just buy the part from the panasonic parts store in your city and replace it. If not take it in and they will replace it for you.

Good luck

Need microwave reset button

What if you have a problem with the door? and the power won't come back on? My microwave has a safety latch on the door that won't let the power be on when the door is open. I tried to force the door shut accidentally (barely) and now it won't power back on? any ideas? Post Solution

It works even if I open or close the door.

if thats a microwave.. then the sensor of the closed door is broken.. thats why it worked even when open.. and that is really dangerous...
so.. your best bet would be opening it and find the broken thing that tells the microwave when its closed...

that thing is usually the little secures attach to close the oven..

if its not a microwave, the problem might still be something similar to this..

Microwave won't start

If you're saying that the inside light won't come on when you opoen the door, then you probably have a bad door switch, most likely the upper one. The most common causes are opening the door while it's cooking instead of hitting the STOP pad first, broken switch mounts, and damage to or slamming the door. These switches are locally available at appliance parts companies. I have a helpful text file with critical safety information and info on diagnosing and replacing door switches. You can find it by doing a search on (not Google) for microwave doorsw.txt
