Question about Canon PC160 Black and White Copier
I have a Canon PC1 personal copier that actually hasn't been used much but was to my knowledge still in working order. I recently ordered a new toner cartridge for it and replaced it. I assumed it was working before I did this but since the cartridge was empty I didn't have a way to test it. Now that I have spent a fortune on the new toner it isn't copying. Everything appears to work correctly except the copy comes out blank. The original is face down so it is not that. When looking inside all appears to be ok, bnothing broken or loose. I have gone to the Canon site but they no longer have a manual for this product. It was I believe the very first personal copier they made. HELP!
The PC1 was many models (and years ago) for me but the basics haven't changed much. I'll try my best. First, was the original cartridge giving completely blank copies also, or just poor copy? If it was blank also, the unit may not be bad (empty) depending on age. Take the old unit and slide open the shutter that covers the length of the drum. The drum may be brown green or purple but white jagged lines coming in from the end are a good sign of determination on organic drums. If the copy went from poor to blank the transfer corona is an excellent place to look. When you open the machine and can see the paper path, the transfer is located directly below where the drum would come down. The transfer wire is very thin (60 micron) and would run from front to back, usually inside a silver 'tray'.

Hi,,Could be the Transfer Corona unit that is shorting out through the end blocks.[High voltage unit] You get a fizzle sound most often when it is copying.. You can remove the unit and scrape the burnt track from the plastic end block. Dave,, Ulster,, Northern Ireland,,
