You're going to need to tell us more than that -- what brand and model of the computer? Which green light on the back -- one on the power supply near where you plug in the power cable, or one farther down where you plug in something like a fat telephone cord (your network card), or what?

My computer wont start up. The power supply light flashes green when plugged in then red. But still nothing , can someone please help?

Try a Power Supply Unit (PSU) Reset: Unplug the electrical cable from the wall and the PSU (Back of Computer)
Move the red voltage selector to the opposite position it is in and then slide it back. If you live in the USA 120Vac to 220Vac back to 120Vac
After you have done this you can plug the power cable back into the PSU. Connect the power cable to the wall power. If the PSU is still serviceable it will no longer be blinking.

If the monitor power light is on or flashing, but nothing displays, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor needs replaced.

Have a HP m7470n. The green power light in the back is constantly on. The power button flashes blue and orange (~3 seconds each). The computer wont turn on. When I unplug the cord and plug it back in, the...

In my case it turned out to be a weak power supply. It would work sometimes and not others. If stone cold, it would not boot. If I unplugged 1 thing, like the hard drive or the CD Roms, it would boot. Tested the old power suppy and it seemed to pass. But once I connected a new power supply, the computer has worked fine ever since.

Green light flashing on back of unit near power cord also green light flashing on motherboard near power supply plug in.

I would suggest trying to replace the power supply. If that does not fix the issue, i would need to hear more about the computer.

Tower will not turn on .

My first guess is to replace the power supply. These are fairly cheap and easy to replace. Unplug your computer. Just open the side of the computer (often the left facing you). The power supply is on the top which is plugged in. Remove the plug and locate 2 - 4 screws that hold it in place. Disconnect the main from the motherboard (remember where this goes for later). Install the new one and reconnect power. This is the most likely reason. If that fails, the motherboard may be dead. The green light flashing indicates that the internet is ready but has no power.

Computer will not power on

Regarding the blinking green light on power supply for hp a430n...I've had that happen as well when the computer is turned off for an extended period of time. It would not immediatly power up when plugged in to power. Hitting it and beating on the button didn't help either.

However, after calming down, I noticed that when I unplugged the computer that the light continues to blink, but gradually fades and goes out. So, I thought that since power supply holds a charge after being disconnected as can other components inside a computer that I would assume the converse: It needs to power up to "full charge" as well. In my case, I was right.

All I did was plug the computer in and leave it alone for about 20 to 30 minutes, go sit and cuss for a while. When I came back and checked it after that time, the front panel blue light was on and the green light on the power supply was glowing steady. The computer started right up! Thank goodness...stopped cussing.

If it hadn't, and I had tried all the resets listed above, I would have bought a new power supply too...but not this time!
