Top Load Washer

My machine leaves the clothes to wet after spinning out and now there is a burning smell, It dosen't seem like the the tank is spinning fast enough to spin the water out. Is there a belt that needs to be tightened? Please let me know. The machine is only about 6 years old. Thank you.

Re: Top Load Washer

There is a drive belt from motor to drum but unlikely it needs tightening but possible. possibly a motor fault - try to identify where the smell comess from

Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ8243HQ0 weak spin, wet clothes

if it has a belt, it may be slipping, but you would smell a bit of burning high use times(4 to 8 pm), the current of electric supply is low, thus less power. third, motor may need to be replaced. plz rate-bozcro

Washer spins but won't drain, electrical smell

HI, the smell is coming from the pump housing. the pump impeller may have slipped of the drive stud, in return, jamming itself in side the housing. this will cause the pump to burn out. Check the following before you replace the pump.

1. Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

you can't really tighten a belt, I suggest that you change it, although it is extremely hard to replace a a new belt yourself. Have you checked the carbon brushes in the motor do not need changing, this could also generate a burning smell and leave you clothes wet if they are worn.

My maytag washer has a burning smell.

What model do you have.?It doesn't sound like it was spinning.A frozen pump would make the belt burn and it would leave some water in the tub .
