Samsung laptop AC adapter

Hi,

I just purchased the brand new Samsung XP360 and I am looking to purchase a spare AC Power adapter.
I am not sure where to buy it and which model is compatible.
They dont say on the manufacturer website which power adapter is compatible with this model.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Wow, they sure don't make that easy to find. I had to use Google. I like the full system specs: "Power adapter: Yes". That's not a specification, that's a checkbox. =)

For future reference: Your laptop is an _X_360. And it's going to get confused a lot with the Xbox 360. So if you do a Google search, say, for a power adapter, try something like this:
power adapter samsung x360 -xbox

The minus will ignore Xbox mentions.

Anyway, so I found a PDF here:
http://www.samsung.com/us/system/consumer/product/2008/10/24/np_x460_as02us/xseries_spec.pdf

For both submodels of the X360, it lists the same 90-watt power adapter: AA-PA1N90W/US

The bad news is Samsung does not seem to sell that online yet, and apparently you paid a lot of money for a very lightweight laptop, so getting a generic-but-heavy adapter, unless you're leaving it at the office or something, isn't necessary a good idea.

But if you type that into PriceGrabber, you get the part for $99.

If you type it into GOogle, you see it as cheap as $89 or so -- ... I don't know those companies. I used to do quite a bit of business with CDW 5 to 10 years ago; they sell it for $99:

Well, like an old math problem, I decided to "show my work." Please see if you can verify that part number on the power adapter you already have, and good luck!

Hi power supply whent pop. PC worked on battery for 20 mins. got new power supply but will not charge. Is there any voltage protection inside and how do I get inside My Eeee900

Hello,
It is very important to check the power output produced by the ac adapter. Make sure that the output voltage and ampere of the new power supply is the same with the original power supply provided with the laptop. The new power supply you purchased may be producing lower or higher ampere than the required power to turn on the unit and charge the battery.

I suggest to purchase ASUS Eee recommended power supply or ac adapter for your laptop before it gets damage by incorrect power voltage or ampere used.

Good luck!

My battery doesn't recharge laptop when laptop is plugged in . What to do and at what approximate cost if new battery needed?

Hi there! There are two possible causes of the problem - it's either your battery or your AC Adapter. To diagnose whether or not it is your AC Adapter, test it this way. Does your laptop function with the power cord plugged in and the battery out? If this is the case, your AC adapter is fine and your battery is done. To replace the battery, expect somewhere between $75-$175. Here is a link to the cheapest battery site I've found so far - I use it for work all the time. http://www.batterydepot.com/mfg/TOSHIBA/LAPTOP-BATTERIES
If your laptop doesn't work with just the AC adapter plugged in, then that is your problem! AC Adapters are cheaper than the batteries. They can be purchased here for around $50: http://www.buylaptopadapter.com/toshiba-adapters.html
Make sure you match the model number on the bottom of your laptop perfectly with the model number of the battery or AC Adapter! Good luck! Alex

How do I get my computer to recognized my new ac power adapter?

The computer doesn't need any drivers to recognize an AC Adapter. If you have purchased the correct AC Adapter for your laptop then it should just work when you plug it in. If it does not then my guess is either you have received a faulty AC Adapter or the DC Jack which you plug into in the back of the laptop is bad.
I am assuming your battery is dead and when you plug it in and turn it on nothing happens?
You can also try taking the battery out and try to power it on with the AC Adapter plugged in.

The Dell Latitude D610 takes a PA-10 or PA12 AC Adapter. It's 65W or 90W

For 90 watt Adapter the output voltage on your AC Adapter label should read 19.5V and 4.62A
At least that's what the Dell brand reads so it should be close to that.

New panasonic sdr-h80, but no AC power cord. Universal AC adapter (brand new,k Best Buy) is not working. How to download to PC?

Hi. I've been chatting with you thru the chat line. I am very sorry if i wasnt able to reply coz my internet is acting weird. The only way to transfer file to your computer is through that port. You mentioned that you have purchased an AC adapter at best buy and it is not working. You might have purchased a defective adpater. Bring the adapter and the unit to best buy so that you have a proof that the one you just purchased is defective. They might replace it a new one. You may want to consider to purchase adapter via online. Please click here.

Will Not charge with brand new a/ power cord it will at times power on if moved the right way but quickly powers off if moved the port inside looks to be fine But I hear there is a pin type thing inside...

The problem is with the AC adapter itself and is a very common problem with Dell AC adapters. My suggestion would be to get an aftermarket AC adapter that can be purchased on eBay as the Dell adapter is around 100.00. You can pick up an aftermarket one on eBay for around 20.00. The problem is a resistor inside the AC adapter that senses when a Dell branded adapter is inserted. What happens is that the resistor will get damaged and since it doesn't recognize the charger as a Dell branded one anymore it won't charge. However it will still run the laptop as long as it's connected. A lot of aftermarket AC adapters bypass this function and work perfectly fine.

If you bought a new AC adapter and its not charging the battery then that would tell me the batter is bad and would need to be replaced. There is also the possibility that the motherboard as well. Make sure you have a new battery and adapter in place before arriving at that solution.

Battery not getting charged-power supply on ac power

hi thanks for using fixya!!

Is your laptop is brand new? Try to remove the battery. Then, try using your laptop and AC adapter without the battery, you will get the power supply directily from AC adapter. If it works properly, then its okay. Now, try to install back your battery then try to charge it. If not charging, perhaps you need to buy a new battery. However, I suggest you bring your laptop to a service technician to further check the error, before you purchase a new battery.

If you need further assistance, let me know!
