I CANT RECORD CASSETTES ONTO A FLASH DRIVE

You can't. Cassettes are analog and the USB only recognizes MP3. The USB will only record off a normal CD or a CD with MP3s on it. It won't record other formats. The unit only allows to record from CD to cassette or from CD to USB. There are some cassette decks that will convert to MP3. Just do a search for "cassette to MP3 converter"

I cant get it to record my records from my sterio to the cd recorder

You might need to fill in something about how your records are being played, on what turntable, through what intervening electronics.

Is the level too low? You may need a PHONO preamp.

Are you using CD AUDIO recordable media? Must say "audio" or "music" on the disc.

Any blank media with "audio" or "music" in its description should work. eBay has tons of them. Use "blank CD-r music" as a search.

How to record LP records to CD, using a 1978

All you need to do is connect two RCA plugs into the audio in of your laptop. The two RCA's go into a tape out of the recevier. If your laptop uses 3.5mm plugs for audio conections then get a 3.5mm plug to RCA plugs. See image below.
To record the music and convert it I would get Magix Audio Cleaning Lab, which you can pick up cheap on Amazon.

418f330.jpg The sound will then come out of your speakers on your computer and then you can record it with Magix and convert it with the software to any audio format.

When i put a balank cdr the recorer says wrong

Listen to it. Go out and buy "CD-R for AUDIO" or "CD-Music" blank CD's and it will cooperate. Home CD recorders are designed to reject data CD-R media for recording.

Copying Audio Cassette to CD

Generally speaking yes. You could take the audio outputs from the tape deck and plug them into the audio inputs for any line in the DVD recorder. Then press record. Finalize it once your done.

A more professional way to do it is to record them back into a computer. If you have Windows Plus! Digital Media Edition installed into your computer, there is an analog recorder installed. All you have to do is plug the audio output of the tape deck into the microphone jack of your computer. Then it will convert them to mp3 format. That way you can use Windows Media Player to burn the CD with by creating a playlist. If you have Windows XP and you need Plus! it should be available at any computer store for around $20.00. Wome versions of Vista may have this feature included into the operating system as well.
