hey I found your info very helpfull thank you but still having problems with my dvd Rom it's not reading any of my dvd's or cd's it doesn't detect it on my computer or reads it I guess it's just messed up I only have like a year with my lap top and bearly use the dvd Rom errr' guess I will have to get a new one thank you so much ;)

you should check your dvd in the bios.
If it isnot there try to push your dvd, it might be loose.
If it is there, most of the time is windows issue, if you already try to edit windows registry and it doesn't work, you should reload the operating system.
