The piece that connects the speakers to the iPod broke completely off! I have put the piece back in but the slightest movement disconnects the iPod! This is what happens when your 3 year old tries to dock your iPod himself.... =(

I have the same thing, the piece the Ipod plugs into is broken off. The response that the company would be liable is a load of bunk. If anything, Bose doesn't want you to repair it yourself because then you might not spend any more money for a new one. I'm an electronics technician and can tell you that if you can get the little moduler part that fits easily into the system with two ribbon cords attached to it, you could repair it yourself in about 5 minutes. I doubt that you can get the part you need to fix it, but instead will have to send it to Bose or just spend another couple hundred bucks to buy a new system. Such a shame, we live in a "throw it away and get a new one world." In the old days, you could fix it with bailing wire.

You can't - the repair needs to be done centrally as the company would be at risk if it sold electrical parts to people who aren't qualified to repair such items. Therefore you need to call Bose and have this repaired, however it's quite a common fault so shouldn't cost too much.

No sound from docking station

The most likely cause is a damaged docking connector. However if there was no incident with knocking, wrenching or mistreatment of the dock connector, it may be another cause. If you turned the power off after it had been on a long time and the dock didn't start up again then: 1: If it is charging the ipod but no sound then the sound processor as failed.2.If it isn't charging the ipod then watch the diagnostic video: SounDock Original Check & Diagnostic

Bose sounddock remote and ipod menu functions

Unfortunately I've never seen a universal remote that will control the extra functions of this. If it's the original SoundDock, you can only do: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan. If this is a SoundDock II or SoundDock Portable, you can only control: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan, and playlist up/ playlist down. Quite honestly, that's all I need to do on my SoundDock. I can't really read what's on my iPod from where I'm sitting in the first place. It may be possible to use a universal learning remote for this, but you'd have to teach commands from an apple remote as well as the bose remote, and the learning remote (+apple remote) may cost you over 1/3 the cost of the SoundDock. It also may not work perfectly. I hope this helps somewhat.

Try other iPods - if they work with no problems it is a problem with the iPod software, connect this to iTunes to get it updated, and also try a soft reset (hold down menu+center buttons for about ten seconds) if you still get issues, contact Bose.
