I would check the power cable to ensure that nothing is broken. Then get your multimeter out and check to ensure that you are receiving 12-14.4 VDC to the plug that is inserted into the player. If both of those check out then you know it is the player itself. If you determine that it is the player, then you will need to open it up. Chances are that one of the capacitors have failed. You can normally tell because the case is swollen or leaking. If this is the case then you only need buy another cap and then replace it if you know how to solder.

You did not state the model number. Kind of hard to find the correct adapter without that knowledge. Also which cord do you need, the power cord for the car, or the wall in your house.

It sounds like there is a connection inside the dvd player itself. If you feel comfortable taking it apart you will prob. see if there is a missing connection.Hope this helps!
