Hello, My Philips DVDR7300H has a recording error after burning to dvd - burns VERY Slowly, and then gets hung on 95% - then "Disk Error" and the disk is then unreadable. It reads other previously recorded...

This happens with a number of drives.
1. DVD Dye type - but as you have tried DVDs from a batch that works seems unlikely.
2. Some drives dont like +R or -R If using +R try -R etc. Also some drives have problems with RW's used previously
3. Drive head travel is faulty. Sometimes only recording a max of 4Gb or 90% on a disk works OK.

Can't make dvd's from my recordings

The recorder supports these formats
DVD-RW · DVD-R · DVD+R · DVD+RW

There shouldn't be a problem with the speed, maybe a compatibility issue with brands.

Also it might be your lens is dirty have you tryed a cd/dvd lens cleaner disk? dry/wet?

My dvd drive recorder/

A common and annoying problem. This is nearly always caused by a disk that has had an attempt to be burned but did not succeed, The disk is now useless as it has had a tiny fraction of data burned on to it making now impossible to re-use.

If it is a CD/DVDRW, try erasing it first.

DVD wont initialize, it will not see a disk

Look at your local mart for a laser lens cleaner disk. It has little brushes that will sweep dust off the laser lens, possibly helping it to better read the disks. Failing that, the unit is probably trash. You might be able to find a replacement drive mechanism for it, but it'd probably be more expensive than a new one.

Why my [sony cd rw dvd rom] will not detect a blank dvd disk

If you have the sony CD RW DVD ROM then you can't burn the data in a blank DVD.

Because your Configuration is :
Read : CD / DVD
Write : CD

This means you have a combo drive. But to burn a DVD you should have DVD RW.

Disc driver not reading discs

Can be several reasons
1. Disk is upside down
2. Lens is durty. Use CD/DVD cleaning disk
3. Disk is recorded in higher speed than your driver can read (for instance reading speed is 16, but disk is recorded on 24).
4. DVD drive is damaged or not connected properly.
Good Luck

Drive cant write any disc

If the unit was working ok and suddenly the unit stop to read the blank disk, the problem could be related to a dirty lector (need to clean) or unit firmware (need to be updated)
In that case you can update your firmware here:

http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/Matsushita-DVD-RAM-UJ-840S-104-Download-14615.html

***************************************************************************************
Remember

1) You have to use a blank "recordable disk" to allow your drive write a disk
2) Not all disks are compatible
3) Try differents brand
4) Clean your drive lector
5) Update your firmware

My dvdrom drive wont let me access the drive

ITs a dvd rom drive. It will not burn blank dvds
in order to burn, it has to cd-r/cd-rw/dvd-r/dvd-rw. If a drive cannot write to a blank disc, it will eject it. Rom drives read only (Read Only Memory), Combo drives- burn cd's only read dvd's, and super drives both read and write to cds and dvds.

Not reading dvd r or rw as writable disk

It sounds like you are having issues with all DVD writable disks. From the specs I was able to find online about your DVD writer, DVD+RW discs may not be compatible with the the drive. Make sure you are using DVD-RW (note the minus instead of +). I think you might need to reinstall your DVD drivers. This should solve the issue.

Samsung DVD Rom drive SD 612B

Its a dvd-rom drive. READ ONLY MEMORY.

That drive will not burn a dvd...it has to say dvd-r/dvd-rw.
or be referred to as a super drive.

Hope this helps.
